What I've noticed throughout the years while appearing on TV shows, and with these lessons is that some guitars look better then others on camera. Same thing with clothes. Even in hi-end professional conditions/studios, bright colors always pop out and look better then black or gray.

Well, I've been recording recently with a black guitar with lots of chrome, John 5 signature Tele, and it turns out that although guitar looks great in person, it turns out terrible on cam. In the same time, white, red or blue guitar looks awesome.

Do you guys consider this when going on a TV or doing a home recording? Do you take a guitar that will look better on camera, regardless of how it plays? I think it's very important to have one guitar that looks good for these types of shows. Having said that, I gotta admit I don't have that kind of guitar, but always try to get a red or bright one just for the shoots smile.gif

I've never really put thought into it, but since you said it I took a gander at my videos. Ever since I got my white les paul its been the main guitar for shooting videos. I use it for the reason you said also Ivan. When I record and I play it back I can spot more errors, because the guitar seems to stand out more since its not a dark color.

It sure doesn't hurt if a guitar looks great where live gigs are concerned smile.gif It's a show after all so being a bit "showy" is ok. Scott Ian from Anthrax used to use this one guitar with silver lipstick single coil pickups (neck and bridge) in videos but never used it live or to record as the pickups just don't sound very "Anthrax". He later had double coil pickups installed just so he could use it live. If he isn't above it, then......
