Hi Guys,

I just got one of those Roland Cube amps and I needed a footswitch, actually you need six to operate all the channels.
You can get these from Boss for about £35 each. Yeah dry.gif .

So I thought how hard can making one of these things be?
As it turns out, not hard at all!

I went to my local electronics shop and got a project box, a jack socket and a push to make footswitch and after a little drilling and soldering bingo! I now have a foot switch. biggrin.gif

Interestingly there were several options when soldering the jack socket to the switch itself, only one of which didn't seem to work. It would be harder to get this wrong than to get it right.

Since I have seen this working now with one switch I am going to put 5 more into the same box.
Since the cube amp's channels are on the tip and the ring of the jack socket I am going to need stereo jack leads and sockets have all the channels available.
I reckon I will have spent around £20 on components by the time I am done (the projectbox was the most expensive thing, coming in at a whopping £9 - but it is really sturdy) saving myself in the region of £201. W0ot. And I get a funky looking stompbox too.

Will post more pics when I am done.

i also won a Cube 80, and my best advice is just buy one Clean/Lead and SOlo, the effects well at less for me are pretty much useless. tongue.gif but yah nice build there.

and you can also build an FS-6, it the dual footswitch from boss or something of the genre, so you don't have to build six.

Ah yes so you can!
I was pretty set on building this so I didn't do much investigating to be honest after I saw the single version.

I mainly wanted the switch for the looper but it'd be quite nice to access the other effects with my feet. How ever did you end up winning one of these things? That's awesome!

Well done man! I've never experimented with electronics but it seems to be very interesting.. and I'm sure that you feel very proud when you see the final thing built by yourself..
