Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Aeolian Lead - Intermediate by David Wallimann

Hi guys, I submitted this lesson about a month ago and passed with a 8/10 score. I have re submitted this again because I wanted to hear your feedback on any improvements that I have made since i first recorded this....And I have new pickups in my Washburn N5 which i wanted to test out and get your comments on my tone also.

Your previous comments on my first take can be found here: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=40315

The original sound file from the first take i did can be found here: http://soundcloud.com/j_davis/aeolian-lead-intermediate-take

I had to delete my previous YouTube account so sound only...

*My Guitar and the backing track is tuned down a 1/2 step*

Thanks for your feedback Gents, Cheers

Wow Jordan this is light years ahead of your previous take. The phrasing and timing is so much more direct and positive cool.gif

I have only one suggestion - try and make your vibrato wider in certain places. When you use classical vibrato it's great but the regular up/down vibrato is a little too narrow and fast which gives the 'angry bee' effect. Rememebr that vibrato is merely bending a string in and out of pitch rapidly. Slow it down so it feels like you're bending a string up a whole tone, for example, then back again.. then bend back up, then back again. Keep it smooth and flowwing. Gradually speed it up so it stops becoming a series of bends and then it becomes vibrato smile.gif

I hope that makes sense. When you break it down like this and try out different intervals to bend to, like semitones, whole tones etc.. then it dissolves the mystery behind achieving a wide vibrato like Paul Gilbert or Yngwie ! cool.gif Have fun !!

Ben explained it nicely, everything is great as far as I can see, but the only problem is vibrato. Try following Ben's advice on how to practice it, and also check out this video (response.rar)

I also wanna put a objection on the vibrato, which isn't natural enough! Overall very good !
