Hey guys, anyone have any experience in building a Hackingtosh? (PC running Mac OS X)
I've done some research into it but was wondering if anyone here has had a personal experience with one, if so, what are the min system requirements, any pitfalls in loading the system etc??

Any and all help/advice greatly received!

From what I know, you can either run the MacOS through an emulator on a pc like PearPC - architecture-independent PowerPC platform (it could run slow however).

Or you could get a Hybrid cpu/motherboard which supports Hybrid Processors/OS. This is basically a Apple Computer which includes the intel cpu processor and lets you duel boot both Windows and Mac OS (recommended).

I know that this is possible but I've never experimented or had a friend that did it...

Thanks for that guys! I've read a few things that are either really good or nothing but trouble but not much in the middle!
I may go down the 'Dual Boot' road instead!

I got the 'ole Macbook Pro running dual boot. Never thought I'd say it, but even windows runs decent.

I think the main problem with most "PC" computers is their hardware (other than that fiasco called Vista). I have windows 7 on here, and it's awesome.

btw: I put "PC" in quotations for a reason. Why do people called microsoft machines "PC"s? Are all computers "personal computers", mac/dos/ms, or does PC actually mean something else?

PC stands for personal computer, so any computer (be it mac/ibm/HP etc..) is a PC smile.gif

My friend has partitioned his HD on his Macbook. He has Win 7 on one half of the computer. I don't know much else.

It's possible, but that won't be a stable system, you'd better off with Win7 on a PC platform.

You could run OS X on emulator, just for fun biggrin.gif
