Thanks for checking out this topic. If you happen to know of a free bass plugin I can use in Reaper, I would be much obliged. I have a MIDI keyboard, so awesomeness for that. wink.gif I need to go cheap because I need to save up for some mixing speakers. smile.gif So a cheap bass guitar is not an option, nor licensed software. I need to find something decent for my rock/metal recordings.

Thanks,
Brandon

How about just using an octaver plugin? You can apply an octave plugin, and then copy your guitar track to the bass track and it will exactly match the guitar track as it's the same thing smile.gif Not perfect, but usually good enough for quick demo work. Here is a link to several free plugins including an octaver.

Maybe you should also look out for a really cheap used bass guitar? I bought a cheap one last year it is much more comfortable to just play the bass parts than to fiddle around with software. Then again, if you are on a really tight budget this is gonna get difficult as well.

Thanks everybody. I do wish I could get a bass. But there are other things I need to do right now.
I will keep posted on how the mixing speakers turn out. Just subscribe to my YouTube. I will make a video on the speakers once I purchase them. smile.gif

Unfortunately, the octaver does not work well for the A below the normal Drop A. It doesn't make the note right. For now I'm just recording guitar and lowering the signal 12 semitones. biggrin.gif

That works smile.gif didn't you say you had a midi keyboard? Did you give the free Native Instruments thing a shot for bass? It will sound a bit more keyboardy. Honestly, the approach your taking now is quick and dirty and probably just fine. smile.gif You can record a guitar part and copy and paste it in to the bass track and it will sync perfectly as it's the same underlying track wink.gif

Here are some recommendations:

http://freemusicsoftware.org/category/free-vst/bass-guitar

And you can run them through Amplitube 3 Free (which is free cool.gif ), it has one bass amp model, so you make it sound more realistic.
