Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Guitar Loves Piano by Piotr Kaczor

Hey guys, A lot of vibrato inthis one. I tried to make them all different, some wider, some smaller, a subtle circular and a classic. Hope it's any good. Gear : Les Paul, POD X3

Well played piece. You got the notes down, and most of the expression, but it a bit rough on the edges, and timing needs more flow, it's a bit shaky.

Also, very important thing here is that your guitar is just ever so slightly out of tune, so it's sounding a bit off almost all the time. It's not that big of a deal, but that could really improve the overall quality.

In general, I think you need to work a bit more on vibrato, timing and fixing the tone a bit (so it's more rounded, not so buzzy), and it will sound perfect.

I agree with Ivan smile.gif Nico, out of what I am seeing you are still playing the vibrato a bit mechanical - it means you are still working on the technique which is not bad at all, but try to get a bit loose in the context of this song. Feel the notes, don't think like : 'Oh, I'm gonna use this type of vibrato here and this other type here'. Maybe I'm wrong and you didn't approach the piece like that, but if you did, try the other way around.

It's a pretty challenging thing to do in my opinion as it needs the effect of the whole expression power residing in you! All you have to do is unlock it! smile.gif Cheers Nico and keep rocking my friend! You have all the chances to get there!

hey nico, i love to see your rec takes and your progress dude. with that said you need to work a bit on your bendings and vibratos, for this type of song you need to relax and let the notes fill the silence the whole time, and it's good a take, but you need to feel it to get it perfect.

also i think you need to tune your guitar better, or maybe it's the intonation?

hi! I think that the previous instructors gave you some really cool feedback. Regarding your technique I also have to say that it's clear that your vibrato is improving but it sounds a bit unnatural yet. I always note that the guitar is a bit out of tune. Remember always to check it before you start recording. wink.gif

Everything has already been said, pay attention to the vibrato, which in some moments sounds wooden. Also I think that you're a bit out of tune.

Hey, how did I miss this take ? ohmy.gif

Great to see another vid from you Nico. You've displayed some excellent examples of your vibrato. The other instructors mentioned some of the vibrato seeming a bit mechanical.. I didn't notice this but their observations outnumber mine so they must have a point smile.gif Perhaps in thinking about doing something, the thinking aspect has come across instead of just the doing. A good way of veiwing is: Practice time is where you want to do all your hard work, experimentation and 'research'. When it's time to play, forget the mental approach and just feel it. smile.gif

The only other things I can note are that the tone was perhaps a bit too distorted and harsh for this type of piece.. and the tuning. I think the G or B string was a bit flat.

Other than that, your playing was great as usual. I'm noticing an increase in your control and capacity to express yourself on the guitar cool.gif
