Hey guys, let's share here methods of recording video!
I think it would be great for members to know what are the most effective ways of recording video. There are series of steps needed to be done to record something, and it usually involves parallel recording within DAW software and with the camera. I capture some video via FireWire, some goes directly on SD cards, and audio goes straight into cubase. Then I edit it all later. However, the most important thing is to make a script and prepare yourself for recording. If you think about your videos and how they will look in advance (before recording and editing), you can save yourself a LOT of precious time in the editing process. With couple of tricks (or if you have video switcher/multiple capturing capabilities), you can make good looking/edited videos very fast. So, preparation is 50% of the work -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I have roughly the same setup as you Ivan. In relation to the firewire, SD Card is a revelation, save me a lot of time!

I record video with my Camera Sony HD, it records in a Hard Disc. I record the audio using my Pod X3 live in Nuendo and finally edit everything using Vegas.

I tried working audio in Vegas, but it's very "clumsy" for that. Cubase rules, it's precise and fast.
Adrian what do you use for video editing/syncing those files? Can't you zoom in and match the waveforms? -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

For syncing does anyone use a clapperboard type approach, where a sharp distinct sound and motion that makes it easy to match audio and video? -------------------- My SoundCloud

Not really, since the waveforms are always clear and visible, it's easy to make the sync from anywhere on the track, if you zoom in. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE

I record guitar through my DAW but also have it sounding in the room so it is picked up by the camera mic. It is then a very simple task to match them up in Vegas by eye or by ear. When they match perfectly I mute the camera audio, and group the DAW version with the video so it doesn't slip, then I edit as normal.

I am pretty much on the same page as Andrew here, I've got the process down to where I can synch the audio and video pretty quickly.

Just record one of them live and record another "offline". Personally, I give the "live" one a bit more edge in the mix.
