Hey everyone! I wanted to post this in some time now smile.gif

I got to spend some time with a friend of mine and exceptional musician and bassplayer (performed with Steve Vai in Romania and Italy) and we were discussing rhythm, when suddenly he showed me his timing improving routine:

He made up a backing track containing only drums at a very slow tempo (60-65 BPM) and he started extract random bars out of it without knowing where he took them out from and how many he excluded.

Afterwards, he came up with a little formula and started playing it over this drum track and guess what - his timing was so sharp that he perfectly stayed with the tempo even when he was playing while he was having nothing in the background (over the missing bars).

I uploaded 4 tracks at different tempos with missing bars, so you can have fun with them in the same way smile.gif and I'm sure that you will develop a tremendous timing and rhythmic control if you'll work with these patiently and focused smile.gif

Just pick anything you would like to practice on and play it over these tracks biggrin.gif

Let me know how it goes!

Cosmin

This is an interesting concept I will have to try. I am really into Opeth, so I need to develop a perfect rhythm. With complicated syncopated rhythms. It is why I am learning Jazz.

For beginning is it normal? will it get better as i keep practicing?

Hey mate! Yes! It's absolutely normal to have trouble with it at the beginning, give it some time and work it out until you are able to lock in with the groove even towards the end where there's more space than drums biggrin.gif
