I Broke My First String, Isn't that a badge of honor?

Been playing close to 5 years now and I've never broken a string. How weird is that? It's not like I don't bend whole+ tones - I don't know what to make of it. Anyways, at practice we were doing Holy Diver, and about 16 bars before the solo (yah - I broke it sliding a 1-5-1 chord... go figure), all of a sudden, I'm feeling fretboard - ?? haha. dang thing broke on the inside - the spiral shell was still in tact and I had this drooping string like a slinky gone wild - one of the guys there took the strap off his guitar, stuck it on a spare in a corner, just and handed it back to me just in time for the solo - haha.

I donno - I have childish pride now - I broke a string! haha.Kindof a lame break I admit, but I'll carve a notch in my belt for that one tongue.gif

I am really quite shocked ,a true rocker would have broken a string with his tongue during a shredding solo

I used to break a lot on one guitar and then I realized it was something wrong with the saddle. I haven't broken one since I got rid of that guitar.

Haven't broken a string in years, since I switched to heavier gauges.

I remember breaking one at the end of laying down a Guide Track at a recording session once. When we listened back to the finished track we ended up leaving the sound of the string breaking as it sounded really cool in the mix!!!

I recently broke my first string after I switched to plated ones, have played Elixirs and d'Addarios for a year or so without breaking any.

This recent string break was when practicing one of Ben's lessons, the Uli one to be exact. At the very end, there is this one and a half tone bend on the E string, which is to be bent and released twice in a rather fast manner. On the second bend it popped! blink.gif

I actually had been playing with broken string for a while until I changed new ones. When I removed the nut lock e string just fell off. I think the nut was holding it until I loosened the screw. huh.gif
