It looks like a massive snow storm has hit most of Europe and big parts are buried in snow! Anybody in this? It also looks to have hit Japan of all paces!

Just a little snow here, maybe 5 cm. It's really cold though, but all is well so far. I think what is weird at the moment and what makes the media jump on it is that there is snow in southern europe, even on some spanish islands.
I am going to Switzerland this weekend for a snowshoe trip, should be fun smile.gif
But back to the topic: As far as I remember, there have always been deaths due to the cold in Russia and parts of eastern europe, as well as a few in Germany.
So the situation is under control in Germany.

A year ago yesterday we had a record snowfall in Chicago. I have pictures of my car were you can only see the antenna! biggrin.gif Yesterday we almost had record breaking warmth at 60 degrees...go figure.

For those getting hit with the snow... I feel your pain!

If you are in Eastern Europe, or Even Germany, Italy, be careful and stay warm smile.gif This wacky snow storm is going nuts.

It's evidently epically bad in some spots. Even in Japan! 50 people have died in Japan from injuries related to essentially shovelling snow and 600 have been injured! Now that jus sounds insane?

Another 50 have died in Eastern Europe from the cold snap. I usually catch Deutche Welle news here on cable and I gotta say, I was
taken aback to hear all this. I know winters are harsh near Russia, of course, and Ukraine, Serbia, etc. But Japan? And this many people losing their lives to it. Seems drastic.

Really dangerous around Serbia, worst snow/cold in 100 years

http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/articl...b6853f6e8f2d037

here is an article about the impact on Japan. 650 injured or perished.

Unfortunately, I've been struggling with the snow all day and my connection seems to be coming and going as it pleases sad.gif it's bad and tomorrow, I heard the snows are coming down even harder. Actually, they were predicting something as a winter worse than the one in '54. My folks say that one was the hardest winter ever.

It's warm inside though biggrin.gif

Yeah, but 650 folks don't usually go to the hospital or morgue in the same week in Japan just from a bit of snow. This one is just extreme for some reason.
