Hey guys! The last few days I've been messing around with Reaper trying to record a song of sorts. It will be straight up heavy metal with a dash of thrash or power metal maybe, who knows, it shapes itself as I go i guess tongue.gif

So far I've managed to record the intro riff and solo as well as some basic drums using EZ drummer (amazing program!) It's kinda rough atm, but it's only a demo anyway! Hoping for some feedback on it, especially the solo!

As for the gear I'm using, it's a cheap Epiphone Explorer that I've replaced the pickups with some EMGs, and it's tuned to B standard smile.gif

Thanks man! Got any feedback on the phrasing of the solo? I received some feedback to try to improve that a few weeks ago on another solo, I think I've improved it a little tongue.gif

I LOVE that rhythm riff!!! The melody is also very nice and fitting. smile.gif As for phrasing, I like the stops you make in the solo, very cool! The melody kinda reminds me of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest boss music biggrin.gif If I were you I'd only add some more vibrato on the lick endings. smile.gif
This will be awesome, can't wait for more! Great stuff mate smile.gif

Cool thanks smile.gif Yeah I see your point with the vibrato, need to work on that! I haven't played any Final Fantasy games, gonna have to check out some samples on youtube tongue.gif

Nicely done! smile.gif As for phrasing, you are getting good ideas across. Maybe harmonize one of the melody/harmony bits to make it stand out a bit more as short of chorus section for the solo. Also, something known as "Call and Response" is a handy way to make a solo pop. Essentially, play a solo lick, pan it left. Play a similar lick with a twist, pan it right. Repeat. You set up this sort of dualing guitar match that keeps things interesting and lets the solo evolve.
