Hi friend!! Welcome to the site!! You did a great choice joining us. Here you will find lots of lessons, as well as Video Chat sessions every day, Collaborations, REC program and lots of features to take your guitar playing to a new level.
The most important thing would be to set some goals and create a good guitar routine that you should play every day... and record takes for the REC to let us grade you and give some feedback and advices. In order to create your routine you can contact me or the instructor that has a style similar to the one that you like to get some help choosing the topics, exercises and lessons.

Enjoy GMC! smile.gif

Hey there and welcome to GMC smile.gif

The best way to progress ?

Well, the two things I always advise are

1) Pick small, manageable goals that ensure you will make visible progress and keep you motivated
2) Focus on things you really enjoy and want to play, not what you think you should be playing.. guitar has to be satisfying to you before anything else.

Both those things are really based on motivation and inspiration, which are the things that will keep you practising, learning new things etc.

Hey mate, welcome to the forums! What's your name? smile.gif
I'm glad you decided to improve your guitar playing on GMC, you'll learn so much here!

My guitar story is similar to yours... I started playing guitar in high school but I didn't progress much until I decided to become serious about it. smile.gif And pressure is a GREAT thing because it forces you to keep playing smile.gif When you have too much free time, it's easy to get lazy smile.gif

Good luck mate, see you on the forums and if you need anything, just ask wink.gif

Hi guys, thanks for all the responses, My name is Stephen.. I love blues, however my band is hard rock.. so i think i need to develop in that kind of direction, mainly solo's is a big one for me and improving speed.

Getting another guitar player maybe a good idea for hard rock, because you can both play rhythm, and one of you can play a solo when needed. You can also create more interesting dual rhythm guitars.

Welcome to the GMC, man smile.gif! Here you will find a lot of material for your progress ! 5 years of experience is lot of time spent with a guitar. Which is the right way? The question is how far you reached. Do you have a demo, some video, audio, to take a look and see which is the best way for you, maybe ?!
