Yes, what are pads mate? biggrin.gif

Hey mate biggrin.gif Check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesizer#Synth_pad

It's a thorough explanation for the term and I think it's far better than my caveman'ish one tongue.gif

Hmm I think i need, whats the english musical term.. I dont know.
But before the chorus, a break or something, maybe just two heavy riffs, to mark that the chorus is coming.

As it is now it just wanders in from c harmonic minor to D major, it does not sound bad but I should prepare the listener for the chours

Indeed, you need a preparatory element. You know, there are several dynamic tricks you can use here:

- Void - by this I mean silence smile.gif
- Drums - a heavy break that will increase the energy pump given by beat one in the chorus
- Bass - a slide on the bass
- Riffage

Now my question is - how many bars will this part have? If it's a short one (1 bar) solutions 1->3 will work just fine. If not, you might have to cook up a riff or combine the solutions above..

It's like a recipe man! Exciting, aye? biggrin.gif

If it's short - I'd go for the drumbreak wink.gif

Yes thats the key sticking to the plan smile.gif

Anyway, I have taken a lot of advice from you and other people here on GMC to build up songs or solos in a good way, not throwing everything you got at the listener.

But sometimes, for example on my new song, when the lead playing starts I want to throw something fast in there almost directly, just feels good, you know, sometimes breaking the rules

Thanks for your kind thoughts man smile.gif Well, yes indeed, most definitely! Sometimes, hitting people in the teeth will feel good biggrin.gif My favorite example of such an effect would be the one below - it's not lead playing but great production and riffing!

Before listening, crank up the volume tongue.gif You will hear the power of beat 1, which is so important in rock and metal!

The thing is Cosmin.
I want to learn Andromeda by Marco Sfogli, my favorite instrumental song.

As you can see I have talked to you with other songs as well, like Still hurts and Ramos, Stellar Crash.
Learning so many songs and you will end up learning not a whole song.

So If I am to learn one of those difficult songs, I need to dedicate myself to one of them I belive.
And send you recordings, talking about progress more often, like every second day or something

You already know what to do smile.gif and you already stated a plan, so, the ONLY thing you need to do is... stick to it laugh.gif

But... why not finish one of the songs you already started man? smile.gif It seems more achievable and let's face it, no one is hurrying you.. right?

Okay Cosmin, you are probably right.
Well, we have Final Dance by Muris varajic, Ive learned my way to the "super insane" part, where he uses a lot of wah-wah so Ill have to wait til I can borrow a pedal from my cousin.

And I probably should learn still hurts first, since I already know half of the song. So should I go for these 2 songs?

And, could you help me with scale, chord and arpeggio training?
I will send you audio recordings if youd like, and you set up what Im going to do each week for example?
And then this time I stick by it smile.gif

Hey Erik, I agree on the following:

- ONE song smile.gif only one - but, BUT biggrin.gif From A to Z recorded BY YOU smile.gif
- Harmonic/ melodic relationships (chords, scales and arpeggios) AFTER you have finished this song.

It seems to me, that you have trouble focusing on a certain task and finishing it. So, regard this as having a double role:

1) Improving you as a player and musician
2) Improving you as an overall committed and dedicated dude, ready to begin AND finish any task at hand smile.gif

Are you with me??! biggrin.gif

Cosmin

Yes, Focus, my main issue! But now I am really motivated and Im going to stick by it.
I divide my practice into 4 areas

Theory practice
Jazz/Fusion pratice (also involves theory)
Song/lick learning
Composing music

So, we are going to do the theory tasks after the song? It might take a while to get the song fully learned.
And Im not sure which one to choose.

I think still hurts could be managable in a shorter period of time

I was thinking about 'Still Hurts' as well. And yes, my suggestion is to get one thing done at a time, given the circumstances smile.gif

I hope you agree with me and I would be very happy if you would stick to it wink.gif Trust me man, finishing things you have started is FAR more satisfying then anything - what do you have to lose?
