Anyway, this song will be put on the idea board for a while. I came up with a killer riff hehe, atleast sounds so to me. Just need the right drums for it. I should start writing but Im bad at that. I would not sacrifice the riff for the sake of speed to be honest. If it was up to me - I'd work my way to 80, maybe 90 and come up with a structure and some nice orchestrations in the manner you mentioned. What do you think? Its straight C major, but I try to put in some stuff from the C minor scale there as well. How do you do that? Best thing is to start with a metronome click sound right and record it to that.
