I've finally gotten some time to put some dedicated time into Cosmin's lesson, "Vivaldi: Winter Arpeggios"

Still sloppy and slow. BUT, my biggest battle is usually finding the time to memorize all of the sections. After that, the fun begins!! I generally don't have much trouble getting something like this up to speed, in fact it is difficult to play it this slow. But, it's necessary until I have EVERY single note down perfect, and without thinking. Playing at speed, for me, usually isn't as much about the speed and technique.....it comes down to being TOTALLY confident on the material, to eliminate any small hesitation.

I just got all of the parts memorized as of yesterday, and shot this video at work today. Obviously, there is PLENTY to improve on, but I think most of it will come along nicely as I increase tempo and get the piece burned into my muscle-memory.

Thanks for the awesome lesson Cosmin!! Lovin' it!!

Yeah I'm wondering if that's different notes bleeding into each other instead of being cut off before the next one ?

But yeah, that'll all iron itself out !

Yeah, this take was all kinds of "no bueno"!

BUT, it was "Step 1": Getting the whole thing memorized. I really don't think it will take long to get this one up to speed, although only time will tell!! In fact, this seems more difficult to play slowed down and clean, in my opinion. The "speed" isn't an issue with me on this piece, but the main thing holding me back from "speed" is that I am not yet 110% totally familiar with the piece. I think with a few moresolid hours dedicated to it, I will be near REC-ready!!

Oh, and Cosmin.....I know you asked about "how long it takes" to get REC-ready, and I was figuring it out last night. So far, I had put in around 4 hrs total to get the whole thing "memorized", and about an extra hour yesterday when I filmed this vid. So about 5 hrs total. I'm thinking another few SOLID, DEDICATED hours and I'll be ready. I'll keep you posted, because I've also wondered how much time I put in. It's hard to track, because sometimes I spread 8 hrs of practice over a month timespan! Depends on how busy I am that month.
