That's what makes music so exciting. It's infinite. It's a never ending path.
However, it's really useful to have a clear direction in order to keep focus on the elements that we want to master in order to be able to say what we want to say with music. Don't forget that music is a language, and we learn the concepts in order to say something... -------------------- My lessons

Well spoken!
On other hand I finally decided one of pieces for the audition. Wonderful Slippery Thing by Guthrie Though I think its quite a bold choice and I will probably trip myself more than anything. Here's day 2 of practise still trying to play the intro at 75% speed wise. To be honest I have no idea how am going to pull off that lick 1:22. -------------------- QUOTE It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does. |

Nice! You've already learnt the intro jazzy jam. It's not an easy job to play that part of the song smooth. There are only some issues in the last licks, the other parts sound good.
I love this song, and this album by Guthrie. -------------------- My lessons

Hi mate, I can say that the backing is so quiet and stable. I would get bored soon too of it!
When inspiration is not coming, it's good to hear to the masters... please share here a guitar improvisation that you think is amazing. -------------------- My lessons

Yes, I can get what you mean. That's a beautiful solo by Marty. The backing has much more movement than the one that you were using. Do you think that it's possible for you to learn those chords by ear and record that backing that Marty is using by your own?

Man! It's awesome to see how focused you are with this song. You'll take your playing to a whole new level by continuing practising this one until you master it. It's a killer song, full of amazing phrases and tricky passages. You are working on the right way, you just need time, and keep trying to economise movements.

Wou! That sounds good! I think that it would be awesome if you can film yourself every day, at least for a while to have your progress on a same video and then share it with us. It can be very inspiring, and also a good way to promote yourself as guitarist.

I finally decided the final piece for the audition. My favorite things.
Its probably one of my favorite standards Been trying to fiddle with it, got the chords and melody down. So I've been trying to come up with a kinda chord melody arrangement....but I am feeling so uninspired lately, can't come up with anything that I can be proud of. So I decided to learn this version by Akihiro Tanaka: My Favorite Things It's less Jazzy crazy oriented and more pleasant to the ear for a regular person, I would say. Nevertheless I really like it. What do you think is a wise choice for the situation? Or should I look for something else. -------------------- QUOTE It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does. |

Hi mate, I think that the choice is good since you love the standard, and going for a nice sounding version against a complex jazzy one sounds reasonable and is what I would pick too. Go for it!
I'm checking other arrangements from that guy, really cool stuff. -------------------- My lessons
