Yes I am going to save that sheet. I am already using it smile.gif I picked out a slow easy song yesterday and tried to figure it out . I think I found the progression and the key .

SONG: Revelation song
ARTIST:unknown
ORDER: Verse,Verse,Chorus,Instrumental,Verse,Chorus,Instrumental,Verse,Chorus,Chorus,in
strumental.
KEY: G major
CHORD PROGRESSION: V-II-IV-I. or D-Am-C-G. Believe it or not these four chords repeat themselves the whole song .
I have played this song in church before so I knew the outline of it but I didn't know the key or the exact progression. I knew there was only 4 chords but that was all I could remember. Here is the link

Regarding the technique Lately I have neglected the warmup you showed me. But I wrote out all my guitar goals on paper and hung them in my room. It helps me focus my practice time better . In them I put Improve my technique. Here is the list of techniques I want to improve in the order I would like to work on them.

Vibrato
Legato
Slide's
Harmonics
Bends
Alternate picking
Tapping
Hammer on's and pull off's ( although for me this and legato fall into the same camp )

I was thinking we could pick 1 at a time and master it ?

Great job with the song. You would be surprised of how many songs keep the same progression in the whole thing. smile.gif

Regarding the techniques, we can definitely use GMC lessons for that. For Vibrato and Legato, Ben's lessons are the best.

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Vibrato-Odyssey/
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Bens-Land-Of-Legato/

I would start working on those two series, and also on any AP lesson, however I would need to know your level in that technique to suggest any lesson.

I meant that I need to see you playing some stuff with alternate picking technique to know your level and suggest any lesson.

Here is the wasted years intro

http://soundcloud.com/jessej-3/wasted-years-intro

My goal is to practice the legato lesson at least 20 minutes a day. It is a difficult lesson for me so it will probably take me a while to bring it up to speed.

Oh haha yah sorry I deleted by accident of my soundcloud account. Here it is

http://soundcloud.com/jessej-3/wasted-years-intro

The Legato lesson is challenging me alot. And I can hardly get any sound out of the high E string when I am playing and then my guitar starts to give me feedback. But I need a pretty good amount of gain in order for legato right ? Any tips you have on Legato would be appreciated, In the meantime I will just keep practicing, I practiced the lesson for half an hour today and will continue to do so because I want my legato to be insane smile.gif

Hi Jesse, the Wasted Year intro is well played but you are not playing it exactly like the original. The quantity of open E notes that you are playing is less, you have to play 4 times it, between each fretted note. Review the tabs!

Regarding Legato, it's something that must be generated from your left hand fingers, you can add more gain and also a compressor to make it easier, but that's not the trick, the idea is that you have enough strength in your fingers to get a good sound. Please post an audio of your progress and maybe I can give you some specific suggestions.

My problem with legato isn't making the sound. I start to get tons of feedback and it drowns my legato out. The only way I know to get rid of feedback is to lower the gain but then I don't get that distortion sound.

Regarding the Wasted years intro haha yup you are right smile.gif I think I was only hitting the open E 3 times. I am now practicing correctly. I could do another recording if you would like ? I find alternate picking hard. Like my fingers have the ability to play faster but I cant pick fast enough. I thought it would of been the other way around.

yes! that must be the problem! Every feedback and unwanted noise comes from the other strings if you don't mute them.

I have to go try this now! I never thought of using both hands to mute. Where do you find all these sweet videos ? Thanks for pointing this out. As I am righting this now I have not yet tried it out yet obviously, but I am pretty sure this should take care of my feedback issues smile.gif
