Okey alex smile.gif Why did you choose those notes? the song is in key Am, so its 1st, 2nd, and 7th note..
Cause I was supposed to do this over sunny right?

And hope will it help improve my timing smile.gif

Those notes are the chord tones of the most chords from Sunny!
Yes I would like you to play over the Sunny and use only those notes nothing else!
It will help you because you will be concentrating on your timing and rhythm instead of too many notes and if you do it right you will get results! smile.gif
Let me know if you have any questions or need help with anything!

okey sounds good alex smile.gif I have refreshend my mind a bit regarding the notes position. I used to play classical guitar, and knew the notes names and position instantly. But in classical guitar u usually play in position 1, only up to the first fret! which means i had bad knowledge about notes above it. But I have now worked on that and I know the fretboard instantly (almost wink.gif

Also a question, Am I Suppost to continue our sunny jam using this, or am I going to play a few bars of my own, standalone.
Cause I think maybe I could continue the jam with some more complex playing later wink.gif

For now I would like you to create a whole solo based on 3 notes!! This is a very good exercise and it will help you a lot!

Hi alex!

here are two files for you, one I recorded using only the notes G-A-B.

Also I made a little improvisation over sunny, using only a minor scale and some pentatonic but no chord tones, just to show some cool ideas I got over improvising on this track lately, mostly tapping smile.gif

cheers

You did a good job! The first take you played more than I asked for, this exercise will fix your timing issues and if you will stick with the position I gave, you will get results much quicker! smile.gif
I love your playing and I love your ideas very very well done! The only thing that we need to concentrate on is timing!
You got the technique and a very nice fusion touch! Now let's get it together and you will be brilliant! smile.gif

Thanks Alex smile.gif
You are right, I need more discipline in my playing smile.gif I also want to learn how to play in changes.

So whats the next step? some more timing excersies?
Also, I have good knowledge och the major, minor scales and the major modes, but I should learn some more pentatonics maybe before learning to play in changes, cause pentatonics are almost chords.

Well I mostly think of them as chords so I move them around starting from the root

If you can do another take using only notes I gave you would be great! I recorded a take to give you ideas! This exercise is very good because you will get all attention to the rhythm and will not worry about the notes too much!
Try it out and let me know how it goes! smile.gif

Ah, I see now that you used only these notes in your inspiration track, that was really good to solo like that using 3 notes.
I will listen to it and have another go at it

Alex, tell more about you music studies in USA wink.gif

I actually have a perfect suggestion for you
You can go to a summer program and try it out! smile.gif
They have it at Berkley and Musicians institute also I think Los Angeles music academy offering a program as well!
Summer program is like you are going to study for a whole summer, practicing and playing every day by the completion you will receive a certificate and if you would like to continue you can stay and continue the whole program!
Let me know if it is something you will be interested in and I will do more research for you! smile.gif
