Hi! How are you doing?
I have created a new assignment for you!
Here is the backing track!
http://soundcloud.com/alex-feather-akimov/withguitar
It's a minor blues
The chord changes are:
Ami7 - Dmi7 - Ami7 - Emi7 - Dmi7 - Ami7
I have a really good exercise that will help you develop your own style!
I want you to start creating your own licks!
To start we will use A minor blues pentatonic in 3 positions:

You can use any notes from those positions !Try to combine them together and turn them into short licks!
I would like to hear what you can come up with before I will give you examples!
Let me know if you need help or have any questions!

QUOTE (maharzan @ Jul 15 2012, 02:30 AM) *
This is where I stuck at Alex. The chord changes are so fast, I can't even remember the pattern. I mean there is litterally 2-3 notes I could play in that chord change. I can't think of now E dorian A mix D major. Its just too fast and my thinking process isn't fast yet I guess.

I changed the backing track and assignment! Let's start slowly and gradually will be adding new things! smile.gif

Hi Alex,

Just noodling around the scale. Please tell me what I can improve on. I sound too monotonous but I guess this is a better start. Concentrating on one thing at a time. Thanks for the push. smile.gif

You did a very good job! I like you playing and the tone is pretty good!
Now I would like you to start playing over the changes!
Over Ami7 use A minor pentatonic in this shape

Over Dmi7 - D minor pentatonic in this shape

Over Emi7 - E minor pentatonic in this shape

Try to be as melodic as possible and gradually build your solo using shapes I have provided! smile.gif

You did a very good job!
Now let's write the chords structure out:
Ami7 - A - C - E - G
I would like you to write the other to chords
Dmi7 and Emi7 after I will explain a new assignment!
Good job!

Perfect! Now I would like you to build a solo based on the chord tones only! Use any octave but only the chord tones!

You did a great job! Sounds very nice! Try to keep it less busy and start with a Q&A technique and develop your solo gradually!
I like your melodies a lot but if you will develop it better it will sound amazing! Let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Thanks Alex. The 4 notes was kinda challenging. smile.gif I am loving to keep things together one by one. smile.gif Looking forward to next one.

PS. I have been looking and listening to improvisations on YouTube so that is helping too. I need to figure out how to play fast notes without sounding up/down or boring at times. Then, it should all come out! biggrin.gif
