Here is a spiff vid of one of the early founders of "Black Metal" giving a semi university style lecture, complete with black board, about the history of Black Metal which has had a serious impact on the evolution of Heavy music in general as so many great bands have at least one if not several members who are fans of the Genre. It has found it's way in to nearly every form of Heavy/Hard music to such a degree that various sub genres are now called "Blackened", for example, "Blackened Melodic Death Metal" where MeloDeath/SwedishDeath (E.G. Melodic Death Metal or Death Metal with a twinge of ABBA) contains elements of Black Metal such as Blast Beats, Death Grunts, etc., but still retains melodic elements.

Death Metal without Melodic Elements is of course traditional "Death Metal" which came from the Tampa Florida Scene originally (this statement would start a riot/brawl on many lesser sites) and by it's core structure rejects melody and harmony in favor of dissonance. Once you get that idea, the rest of it makes a lot more sense smile.gif

This is indeed a good way to understand Black Metal. Another great film is "Until The Light Takes Us". The latter has received very many awards from independent film festivals.

Go Fenriz!

EDIT: Here is another one of his musical projects, Storm. Viking metal at its finest!

All the elders have fallen down...

Heal her now...

All the elders have fallen down...

Heal her now...

Grandfather elk
Turned to me
And spoke:

Light the fire deep inside.
Light the fires!
