Sounds like a plan to me!

I'll be tinkering with the KSE lesson here and there until I eventually get it down. I just don't want to get frustrated with it and not want to continue on with it!

You have no reason to get frustrated Trey - are you in a competition that you haven't told me about? smile.gif

Hey C-man!

Sorry I keep going MIA on you. Every time I get free to practice hard again I get caught up with something.

I'm still practicing the KSE lesson (sorry it is going so slow) but I figured maybe we could start working with minor scales? I've always been told the minor scale and its associates are what metal is based on.

Hey Trey smile.gif Well, life doesn't always allow us to keep following our plans eh? sad.gif Hmmm, should it be a rhythm or a lead based lesson? What are you aiming for, aside the fact that it has to be based on a minor scales? smile.gif

Both.

I want to learn how to write metalcore and I think learning how to use Minor scales and scales that go with it would allow me to write music better.

Well then smile.gif Let's choose two of them wink.gif

For lead - https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/B-Minor-Ballad-Solo/ This one should keep you busy - I want a lot of focus on the details, k? It's got a lot of articulation going on - bends and vibrato biggrin.gif

For rhythm - this one should be easier than the KSE lesson - https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Metalc...-Trivium-Style/ but also nice and packed with metalcore elements.

How much time would you need for two nice takes? biggrin.gif

Cosmin

I think I could get the Trivium lesson done in a few days. I've actually had it bookmarked so its nice to actually have a reason to start it.

Im going to take a little longer on the lead lesson because I would like to actually get it right

Awesome suggestions, I'm looking forward to getting them started!

Also, I bought 'Seeds' the other day! A couple of my buddies loved the EP and bought their copies as well. Journey is my favorite so far!

Hey Cosmin,

Loving the B minor ballad solo suggestion. I'm getting the bends down well. It's taking me a little while to get the sweeping motion section down. I realize it's not a full sweep but it's confusing me when I play it for some reason so it'll take a little while.

I think I may be recording my take of Meta soon as well so I'd love to see what you think of that!

Just thought I'd check in and not leave you in the dark like I've been doing laugh.gif

Update!

So I'm starting the Trivium lesson in between recording Meta and the B minor solo. The legato section of the B minor solo is absolutely killing me mellow.gif

Don't rush it mate smile.gif Be patient with yourself and things will sort themselves out smile.gif What do you think about coming up with takes for each lesson at 75% of the original speed, but playing them PERFECT ? biggrin.gif

I've never really thought about it but I can see where it would be beneficial!

I could try and do that.

First of all - it will help you prove to yourself that you master that lesson in every aspect, aside from bringing it to the ultimate speed smile.gif It is a huge motivation - trust me - that's the point where you will realize that practice is the only thing that separates you from your destination !

Hey man,

Just a little update for you!

I've been working on the B minor solo a lot. I'm having a tough time with the legato portion of the piece.

I'm also in the process of selling my ESP Alexi ( sad.gif ) so I haven't been able to work on anything in Drop tunings for a while.

Sounds good. I have to wait for my brother to give me my POD GX back so I can record a take but it shouldn't be too long. wink.gif

I've actually been analyzing the Leads and Riffs Rockhouse Method DVD. It is the one that features Bullet for my Valentine's lead guitarist Michael Paget. He's my favorite guitarist and I've had the DVD for a while but I've just recently startedexploring his playing style.
