Get ready for your next challenge...

Task 17: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...ibrato-lesson1/

That's right. Instead of looking at my beautiful hands you're going to be learning from Marcus this week. I know, I know. You're going to miss me but you're just going to have to deal with that wink.gif

This is a little busier than the previous assignments so I hope you'll enjoy the challenge.. and enjoy playing the piece smile.gif

Deadline next Friday 25th May or I phone a member of your family and tell them you were seen coming out of a Ricky Martin concert.

Be well ph34r.gif

Sweet. This is going to be challenging.

One of the lessons that brought me to this site was Marcus' Evening Blues lesson. I'm not a huge neoclassical guy but I do love his more bluesy rock style. One of the elements of that lesson that was/is over my head is the tapping section and I noticed this one has some too. Kind of unexplored ground for me so this will be good to get some exposure there.

Either way, gotta get it done. If my wife hears that I've been "living la vida loco" she's going to have some serious questions. biggrin.gif

Ah, so this is definitely a good one for you then ! You ned to be able to move through phrases like a cascading waterfall. It's like having moments of smoothness and then sudden moments of intensity.

First, try it by listening for the chord changes first and then moving to the next phrase. This will mean it's slightly behind the beat but it will help you determine where the 'line' is and when to cross it and when to stay back smile.gif

Same issue here. Got the structure down for the most part although there are still some minor problems here and there but the timing is by far the biggest challenge.

Hey Ben! Here's my Left Hand Vibrato take. Still sounds a little clunky to me but this was the cleanest take I got. Definitely tough to flow with the backing but the more I practiced the closer I got to feeling my way through more naturally.

Looking forward to #18! smile.gif

I appreciate it.

Haha, man I don't have many tips for you unfortunately. There was definitely an element of luck in that take. The more I did it the better I felt like my anticipation was getting. It still took a ton of recordings to get this close and there were still some pretty obvious bad notes in there. This was my best combination of correct notes/slides/bends and overall timing.

Ooooooh, wow that was nice !!!

Very impressed Senor !

Apart from the occasional string noise that take was just perfect to me. Vibrato was just great, tone.. everything wink.gif Congratulations to thee.. one Donut is yours !

I will give up on this one.

You dare to utter those words in this Temple ?

Without hardship or discomfort, there is no growth. Face your fears and slay the Dragon of soloing over a backing with no defined beat !

The Warriors in this Temple are not weaklings.. you can do this ! ph34r.gif

The out of timing take would sound awful! Besides, I need to first maintain my flow with the beat before trying without it. biggrin.gif

Maybe you have already but you might try playing along with Marcus. Almost develop a muscle memory of when to move. I did that early on and I felt like it got me on track or at least close enough to be in the general area when I went to just the backing.

Of course, you didn't know this was coming. ha! I had to try despite I confess that I have cheated. sad.gif I used a metronome behind the track to figure out where to start. Guessing it was getting annoying. Sorry Bushido but I had to do this. Theres so much going on in this lesson. Thanks for the push.
