C D Eb F# G A Bb C. Dorian with sharp fourth smile.gif
Yep, the name is easy like that. Or if you like, the romanian scale, but dorian sharp 4 is easier to think for improvisations.

Thank you, and what is it called if the root is the G? I should really read up on some theory tongue.gif

You can think of the romanian minor as the forth degree of the harmonic minor scale.

Not sure what exactly you're asking, but here:
G A Bb C D Eb F# G = G harmonic minor
G A Bb C# D E Fb G = G Dorian sharp 4 (or dorian #11, or romanian minor)

Not going to look twice over the notes as I am really tired (and they could be wrong). But basically, if you are interested in understanding these scales, learn the harmonic minor and the modes it has. smile.gif

so... If you have C dorian #11, you are playing the fourth mode of G harmonic minor. So if you just play the same notes, and put G as root, you are back to g harmonic minor. smile.gif

edit:
The harmonic minor is often the first minor scale people learn (before natural minor) when studying music. You simply raise the seventh degree, when compared to a natural minor scale. smile.gif So if you want to dwell deeper into music than just the normal modes, I'd advice you to start here, especially if you are interested in fun scales like this smile.gif

It is Dorian# 4 Or if you will start from G Aeolian#7 (Harmonic Minor)
You can find everything you need to know about harmonic minor in my video chat notes
Here
https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...20&start=20
Just in case I am posting it here as well!

Modes:

Aeolian #7
Locrian #6
Ionian #5
Dorian #4
Phrygian Major
Lydian #2
Mixolydian #1
Usage:
You can play harmonic minor every time when you would normally play natural minor it will add some spice into your solo
The only exception is Mixolydian#1 you can use this scale if you see a chord progression that has chords from major scale
for example:
Emi - Ami - B7 - Emi
This is a I-IV-V chord progression in minor but instead of having a Bmi chord we have a B7 which is coming from I-IV-V major
