Hey guys (and gals, if any),

Since the summers have started, I wanna ask all you guys out there, how do you beat the heat. I know it isn't as hot as here in India (its still may and its 45 degrees Celsius here and electricity goes down a lot.

What's the best part of summers for you ?
What's the worst ?

I suck at life during the summertime. Even though I grew up in Southern California, I have always been better in colder climates. I sleep during the day and stay awake all night, so I guess that is how I beat the summer. I can deal with cooler temperatures that way.

Nice Idea.

Same things with me man, even though I've been in India all my life, I just hate summers. I get a 104 degree Fahrenheit fever every year since I remember (the first one was when I was 6). And school time was so bad. Just some fans and I used to have my shirt literally wet by my sweat everyday laugh.gif And come a 45-minute ride in non-AC bus back to home at 3:00 PM was the worst.

Thank god I don't need to go to school anymore. biggrin.gif

Our best summers are probably like your winters. We are very lucky and almost declare a public holiday when temperatures get over 23 degrees C.

We usually are in the high 30s/low 40s for the Summer. According to the national news though the temp hit 49C a few Summers ago - they think it went over 50 but the thermometer they use kind of gave up.

Winters the temp is usually in the 10-20C range. I tend to think anything below 20C is cold.

Very weirdly we did have a hail/ice storm two weekends ago. Friday night we were at a street party until 2am - temp at 2am was about 20C and just getting chilly. Next day it clouded over badly, temp dropped to about 6C and it then hailed for 2 hours.

Best advice I have:

Stay hydrated

Stay out of the sun during the peak time (here it's 11am-4pm) - so adjust your day to it.
In the Summer we get up early, about 6am have breakfast etc and work until 11am. Then we take a long break until 4 and then return to work until 8pm. Evening meal time is usually about 10pm. If we have a day off we usually spend the day swimming etc at the Playeta (kind of like a man made lake and beach up in the mountains).

Best part of Summer is the weather as I like the sun and heat.

Worst part is having to work during it. My daughter's summer vacation runs late June to start of October and the most time I can take off is about 2 weeks.

I just open as many windows as possible and keep having a break / drink outside in the shade.

Tony is right. The worst thing about hot weather is having to work in it. I'm so thankful that I don't have to have a physical outdoors job or any sort of 9-5 that would keep me out in it. I really sympathise with people who are out in it all day.

I try to stay inside as much as possible with the AC on. It gets pretty stinking hot AND humid here in Florida. It's already been over 95 degrees Fahrenheit (I have no idea what that is in Celsius) several days. I got laid off from doing construction and the fact that I am not killing myself out there in this heat does not bother me one bit. I am only applying for jobs that are in the AC now. biggrin.gif

It has been getting about as hot as 90 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit (32 to 35 Celsius). This is Arkansas and I have seen hotter in Texas, but that's still pretty hot for me. Let's see.. 45 C is..... 113 F! WOW!

We just stay inside a lot of the time with the AC on.

Here in the area around Stuttgart, Germany , we got until now 26 to 31 degree celcius this period of year.

I go out early in the morning and later on in the evening to enjoy our garden.

When there is some work, i can do the most inside a house ,thats ok for me.

I don't like direct sun and as we all now it isn't healthy.

Our house is well build an when we close the jalousies its in comfortable temperature , cold drinks we get from our old Vault Cellar - all the year same temperature . ( build 1932)

I prever to watch the sunshine from a shadow place when i am walking or traveling and don't like sunbathing.

Spring and autumn are my favorite seasons.

I remember Deli in summertime the heat and breath there just terrible , went to Himachal Pradesh near Manali, Kulu Valley ,
thats more comfortable clime to me tongue.gif

Greetings to India !

Dieter

I dislike the heat, I live up north in the States maybe 7 hours from Canada. It's like 70F (20C) right now and I can't stand it. Give me sunny and 60F (15C) any day. But I typically drink a lot of water/cold tea, while inside with the AC on, sitting in front of the vent. I personally love winter time minus the snow/ice.

I live in an area where it gets 80-90 Degrees F. on average during the summer. (26-32 degrees Celsius I think)

It doesn't really bother me since I'm kind of cold natured and love hot dry summers. If it gets too hot inside I just turn up the AC. The main thign I worry about is how the weather is affecting the wood on my guitars.

Me, too. Just love the winters. smile.gif But 20C is according to me the perfect temp. That's what the AC maintains after 2 hrs.

And I do similar. I drink lots of Ice Tea or Lemonade or Cold Coffee. And try to sit in front of the AC as long as I can.

Anything above the 20's is hot for us ! I don't live in London, though, so don't go there - you'll be disappointed ! tongue.gif

I live in the South West, on the border of 2 counties called Dorset and Somerset. Nearest 'big' town would be called Wincanton, in case you guys wanna pin point me on Google maps biggrin.gif
