Here my take:

What picking pattern are you using here ? It seems as if there's extra movement in your hand, like you're using alternate picking ? smile.gif

Alternate/sweep (?), down up down, down up down..

Ah I think its much easier if we do down up up down up up (inside picking). I was doing outside picking thus it looks like theres a lot of movement. will try this.

Remember that the last note isn't picked, it's just a pull off. So for every rep of the lick, you only pick D, U, U, (Pull off) smile.gif

Here my take:

That's quite tight smile.gif congrats! Although I don't quite understand the way you pick this. It looks to me like you are doing two downstrokes while Ben I think is asking for a down stroke and then two up strokes like a mini sweep motion.. Am I right or wrong ?

EDIT: Uuups I just saw Ben's comments tongue.gif yea I think he was saying the same thing. Sorry for the repetition biggrin.gif

Here is my take... I probably should have played it a few times so it can be analyzed easier. It sounds like I'm playing it a little jagged... not sure, I let you be the judge. smile.gif

Time for a new lick !!

Penta Shred 3 - Get it on !!! cool.gif

Attached File  Penta_Shred_3.gp5 ( 2.06K ) Number of downloads: 41

As if a video wasn't enough, I've also supplied you with visual tab and Gpro.. I'm just too good to you guys !! laugh.gif

This is a classic penta blues rock style lick. Beware of the subtle bends, like at the end of bar 1 and the bend at the end which should be performed with the index finger.

Also, note the 12 fret bend which bends a whole tone then releases a semitone down, then a semitone down again. This is a classic blues trick. Also, check out ex Megadeth guitarist Chris Poland for some excellent use of bends like this smile.gif

The 12th fret bends occur in one movement.. but the tab shows them as 3 separate hits, only pick once to start the bend and then just release it without hitting it again smile.gif Enjoy !

Of course.. I expect takes ph34r.gif

It did cross my mind... biggrin.gif

Trying to get that "snap" that you have to it. Gonna continue practicing it some more.
I made a second example after noticing the first one had poor lighting!

Heeey, nice one DG !

Yeah, I try and get it so the 3 triplet notes after the bend occur faster.. can be tricky when you're doing a picking pattern that is not normal to you but if you concentrate your energies one getting the finger movements to nail those 3 notes quickly the picking part may fall into it easier smile.gif
