Just taken my Fender Hot Rod Deville out of storage to check it out before someone comes over tomorrow to buy it.

I haven't played it for 3.5 years since getting my Axe Fx Ultra.

I forgot how nice the clean channel sounds, it's still going but there might be a little tear in my eye.

I think I might try and replicate it in the Axe Fx.

I've got an Epiphone Gothic Flying V that looks absolutely beautiful but isn't that easy to play. I bought it on a whim a few years ago and I've tried to really get into it but I just can't. I know I should let it go but I haven't been able to yet. Part of me keeps wondering if there will be a time where I pick it up and it just feels right.

I'm selling the ESP LTD 8 string neck through body with Active EMG's if anybody is interested! These list for $1,000 us new and go for a little more than half that used. I really wanted to like this guitar, but the neck just feels wrong (it's smaller and thinner than my 7 string but the feel is just....off ), like many ESPs I"ve played, but that's probably because I"m to used to my Ibanez 560.

Got any pix of the guitar? How much do you want and is it a hard tail? Trade for an 8? smile.gif

I know how you feel. I gave my first Ibanez amp away to a kid who needed his first amp for his first guitar. It felt good and bad at the same time. I'm sentimental. I made it a highlight on my fan facebook page.

I have been thinking about selling some of my stuff, since like Ben I have a guitar that I bought on impulse a few years ago and never really play it that much any more. I hate to do it, I get sentimental over my guitars.

I had to sell a guitar I didn't want to get rid of, but I needed the money. I put a lot of work into it, and I documented all the upgrades I've done to it here on GMC. It had a lot of sentimental value, but unfortunately life is what it is. Oh well biggrin.gif

I also sold a UK manufactured Marshall Valvestate combo to finance purchasing a half stack. It was a great amp, my first real amp. Even though the Peavey ValveKing I ended up getting was a better amp, I still miss that combo.

I'll sort out some pics for you today Todd. smile.gif

I'm sure your 8 is worth more though, but the V is just one of those things that you just wanna pick up.. visually I think it's stunning. The bits I couldn't get on with were the neck heavy weight distribution and it's only got 22 frets but apart from that it's got real 'just pick up and play' appeal.'

Actually there are two, both Epiphones. One is a LP Standard and the other is an Epiphone Casino.

Is the V the hard tail or the one with locking trem? The locking version goes for a bit more. The LTD 408 goes for about 1k new but only 5 or 6 used.

I had the same thing with two guitars I sold - my Epiphone Les Paul Limited Edition - an awesome guitar which I had sold in 2006 because I needed some money and back then I think I was trying to somehow become Steve Vai - I had the Jem so nothing else mattered laugh.gif

Well, I think I did a pretty stupid thing to sell it back then, as today, it would've fit the drop C tuning like a glove...

I have sold quite a few Guitars and not wanted to at the time. Most notably was an original 72 Thinline Tele, I needed rent and put it up for sale in a local Studio, I managed to get my Rent together without the sale of the guitar and rushed around to the Studio to take it off Sale only to find out that a guy had literally bought it 15 minutes before!

I can't do anything about increasing the fret numbers but the weight distribution issue can be addressed!!

I had another go on it yesterday.. I still can't get on with it. It's just not for me I don't think. smile.gif

I'm interested how you could fix the weight issue though. I tried tying weights on to the body and altering the strap button positions but nothing..

Did you change your strap to make it longer/shorter or move the actual strap post position? I know some people that had BC Riches and moved the strap post and it helped that out a lot. I hear ya tho. That is exactly how I felt about a 7 string.

They're called 'Strap Buttons'!!
biggrin.gif

Did you try moving one or both the Buttons? That's usualy the issue, although you can also remove some of the Neck's mass by sanding it back or cutting the headstock down a bit.

Just one.. it was on the inside edge of the upper V horn, a few inches in from the tip. I tried moving it to the actual tip of the upper V but it was no good so I moved it back. That was a long time ago and I haven't altered anything since. It's ok though, as I was saying I don't really think it's for me, even if the balance was sorted out. smile.gif
