Nice list! I can honestly say, living about 120 km away from Zurich: this city is really freaking expensive. The whole life in Switzerland is. My buddy lives there and when I first heard how much money he makes I was like "dude, you're gonna be a millionaire in no time if you save up a bit each month!" Then he told me what he pays for the rent and so on...guess it's gonna take him a while longer to make it to the millionaire's club.

London and Vienna are the most expensive cities I've been to. I spent a fortune in those 2 cities last year but it was damn worth it!
So much stuff to see, visit, experience... Wimbledon, Stamford Bridge, castle Windsor, Tower Bridge, Charing Cross, The Parlament, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Soho street, Hyde Park, London Eye, the museums (British Museum, National History Museum, Science Museum), and on the other side Schonbrunn castle, the Zoo, the Gardens, Prater amusement park, Operahaus, their own parks and museums... It was probably the best money I've ever spent, because I experienced so much and can still brag about it biggrin.gif Now I'm just waiting to return to London and explore all those things I missed the last time biggrin.gif But I understand Tokyo and Moscow are even more dangerous for the wallet! They're on my "to-visit" list as well, one day biggrin.gif

ON the other side, my city's roaming with tourists in the season because it's DRASTICALLY cheaper and you can eat, drink, have fun, attend a gig, get wasted and take a taxi home, all that for max. 20 € biggrin.gif But the standard is also lower, and you can forget about efficient public transport service, tons of museums, theatres etc. biggrin.gif I guess the unique mixture of Austrian-Hungarian and Turkish architecture and the history is what attracts tourists the most. Besides the cheapness and wild night life biggrin.gif

Wow, I can't imagine how expensive it must be... or how boring his job is, if he's making that much money !! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Cool, you liked London then ? smile.gif

That's interesting.. I wouldn't have imagined Sarajevo being a tourist destination but that's only because I grew up seeing Bosnia on the news a lot and I associated it with being a war zone. I'm sure that it's not that way now of course, and all things change.. I'm glad of that. I'd be happy to come over and check out the city delights with you ! (After a crazy jam session of course !) smile.gif

Sure thing man! Of course - that was not the case during those days when my visa got rejected, back then I was furious but after the whole trip and experience it's a dream city for me! The only city besides mine where I'd gladly live! I even dreamed about it on many occasions (really), the desire to visit it again is enormous! Not to mention most of my favorite music ever came from England, that's what actually made me decide to go there in the first place smile.gif

Yeah, most of the people still think of it as a war zone! But things have changed smile.gif Of course, you are most welcome anytime! biggrin.gif How awesome would that be? biggrin.gif

Paris is one more in my list of "must see" cities, I'm still hoping I can get parents to somehow fund me this summer for a little trip, but we'll see biggrin.gif And of course, it's expensive as well, but each one of my friends who went there fell in love with the city!

Cool article! It's curious, I wouldn't imagine that those are the most expensive cities... the first ones that come to mind were London, Paris and Praga...

I'm not sure whether Prague (or Praha) is an expensive city or not... for some reason, it's a massively popular tourist destination for men when they're on stag weekends.

P.S. We had this discussion before because 'stag weekend' didn't make sense to non UK people ! wink.gif

A 'stag' weekend is the party that guys have before a guy gets married. They usually involve doing stupid and humiliating things to the groom-to-be, like chaining him naked to a lamp post. Nothing that wouldn't happen when me, Gitarrero and Mudbone get together.. wink.gif

Probably depends on what method they used to determine costs - i.e. is it prices or is it prices relative to average local income. I assume they used the latter. If you're not paid as much as what city types get in London then it is an extremely expensive city. Average income around here is less than 800 Euros/month for those in work (and many are not); average for city of London is probably more like 5000 Euros/month. Around here I pay 1 Euro for a coffee - central London I guess it's probably closer to 4 Euros. So relative to average earnings a cup of coffee here is more expensive...

I can be your personal counselor regarding silly ideas you can do to each other for the stag night biggrin.gif In fact, why don't we make up a list of things so that we'll be prepared at the right moment? laugh.gif

Kinda depends how you travel, here in Amsterdam we have the most expensive parking rates ( in the world )
its about 71 dollars a day to park your car in Central-Amsterdam. Though the rest is cheap relatively.

I went to norway last year and noticed that the alcohol and tabacco were really expensive in there.
My london trip a few months ago was really cheap, and the food was nice. ( though I can't understand how people can
like that guinness beer )

I've been in Prague and I didn't find it that expensive. They have some excellent and relatively cheap beer (Staropramen) everywhere!

Very much this - it's an acquired taste.

It's also much nicer in Ireland than in London. Personally though I'd much rather have a Beamish over in Cork than a Guinness in London smile.gif .
