Thanks Alex, here you go:

Goals -

being able to play the rhythm to any track (extended chord knowledge, styles with chord fragments/inversions and types of rhythms)

Play fluid solos with a start, middle and end and be able to choose the feel - melodic, aggressive, intense etc

Knowing which scales to use for solos and what to pick when there are several available, and how to blend two or more in the same solo

Weakness -

All of the above, chord knowledge, don't know note/fret, right hand technique is weak, poor rhythm, fingerpicking

Strongest -

Basic chords and scales and know roughly what goes with what. Can AP fairly consistently. Can often work out chords/solos by ear

Hendrix, Blackmore, Carlos, Brian May, Bill Nelson (? smile.gif ), Satriani and fascinated by Petrucci/Vai/Malmsteen but more from a technical perspective

Have done legato exercise with Cosmin, was fine and working on AP'ing chords, not fine but will be smile.gif

I am at the stage where I am happy to commit to practicing a few key things constantly for as long as it takes, to get the benefit in the long run. i'm old enough to not believe in shortcuts anymore!

Have a demanding day job so only get 3-4 hrs/week practice, usually weekends and hotels. But will dedicate all of this to whatever are the best things to learn to make me more rounded as a player.

Best regards,

Martin
