Hi Bas Cuthach!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!

Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project.

The principles of our Army are:

+ Improve your technique
+ Make music and solos
+ Have fun
+ Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... )

Hi mate! I checked your site and some of your videos at Youtube. I already have an intermediate level but every technique should be taken to a new level with some specific work. The main things that I think that you have to adjust are:

+ Alternate Picking
+ Vibrato
+ Phrasing and Improvisation
+ Metal Rhythm
+ Connection between your mind/ear/fingers while jamming
+ What about Sweep Picking? Do you use it?

Let me know which of these thing you want to work with me.

I would like to do sweeps, I started learning a few arpeggios, I want to improve on all, I am working on alternate picking with todd, lets start with

+ Connection between your mind/ear/fingers while jamming
+ Metal/Rock Rhythm
+ Phrasing and Improvisation
+ Sweep Picking
+ Lick's / Riff's

I think this is a good order? smile.gif

yes! that's a good order, do you have any recording of you playing sweeps?

We should work on this exercises:

LESSON #8 – RIGHT HAND V / SWEEP PICKING (2 strings arpeggios)

LESSON #9 – RIGHT HAND VI – SWEEP PICKING (3 strings arpeggios)

LESSON #10 – RIGHT HAND VII – SWEEP PICKING (5 & 6 strings arpeggios)

For rhythm, we could choose any rhythm metal lesson. Tell me some of your favourite bands and I'll suggest some lessons. An to start working on phrasing and improvisation, It would be great if you can choose any of the active collabs and join it!

I am slowly learning them as I am learning songs and doing a lot of other things, I'm keeping busy, I'm on the 3rd or 4th lick of lesson 8, I will still work on them from time to time and get you a video as soon as I can, so far its going good

I started recording the 3 strings sweeps and decided I wanted to do a better job of recording so I will get them as soon as I can, is there a suggested BPM? 120 slower faster, how many notes per click?

Hi mate, you can use triplets or sextuplets when you play 3 strings sweeps. The tempo depends on what you can play clearly and tight... don't worry about speed, concentrate on those two things "clear and tight playing".

Hi Bas! Good job, keep on practising this lesson, maybe even slower to be able to play the arpeggios clearly.
Keep the hard work! smile.gif

Hi Bas, how are you? Welcome back to guitar! smile.gif

Well, I'm giving a complete improvisation course via Vchats but the cool thing is that everything is recorded and tabbed so you can review the first classes. The best would be to start with week#1, work on the tasks there, replay the video, ask me here all the questions that you have and off course share recordings with your practice and improvisations to let me check your progress and give you feedback. On week#1, I covered Caged System, major scale, diatonic sequences and some arpeggios.

What do you say? Are you in?

Excellent! The course is a great guide to master all the most important improvisation concepts so please follow the different classes, ask me everything you need and share here videos of you practicing the exercises to let me check your progress.

OK so i started looking at a few bands that i plan on studying, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Jimi Hendrex and the Beatles, for the sake of copy right, i was thinking you could create or take something and help me break it down and learn from it, the first song i would like to learn is Rock and Roll by Zeppelin
