Task 25 : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vL0GaJcOR5s

That's right, disciples ! You are having a go at a lick that I uploaded for the Penta-Shred thread ! Don't worry, the other guys are getting a harder lick !! wink.gif

This is a common phrase that is found within rock, blues, metal.. in fact you could probably fit it into most styles of music !

Pay particular attention to the picking pattern. It's designed to be easy to play. I start on a Down stroke, then I play 2 consecutive U strokes with a sweeping motion and then pull off to the last note.

At the end is a tricky little bend on the 12th fret. Bend up a whole tone, then drop it a semitone and then a semitone again until you've brought it back down to it's non bent state. The bend after that is played with the index finger !! biggrin.gif

Here's tab and Gpro for you too:

Have fun with this one !!

Deadline is next Friday 20th July ! (Wow, already ??)

Hi Ben - Gee I need to pay more attention. I played this lick picking ever note until I thought I'd better just check it out to make sure I'm playing it right and surprise surprise there is the legato so I had another go. Confession I've just lost some skin of the side of my left index finger so the last note I had to use my ring finger. I had another attempt faster but I don't think my first bends are a tone. Note this doesn't mean it's great.

90 bpm

p.s just noted what you wrote about 2 upstrokes hmm I missed that. Feels easier too.

Yo Zoom ! Thanks for your take biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, it's defo a lick which sounds better with that pull off !!

You seem to be playing it as all 8th notes but you want the first note to be a bit longer (dotted 8th note I think ??) and then the following 3 notes are then played faster in a triplet fashion. Like 1....1,2,3

That last bending sequence is really good, congratulations on nailing that bit ! smile.gif

Hi, I never practiced any type of sweep picking before
so it took a couple days just to get my right hand to cooperate.

This take is only at 70 bpm and I can see this will take quite a bit of practice to get it sounding good and fast.
Hopefully I'm on the right path with it though.

Sounding good, Moss !!

My advice would be to get the 3 notes after the bend sounding more even in timing. They have a triplet sound. So it's the BEND, 1,2,3 BEND, 1,2,3 type of sound. I know you're going for that sound so you've got the idea of it. It's probably the awkwardness of the mini sweep motion throwing things off. I know that it's hard to get even timing when using sweeps, especially when playing them at a slower speed. But just keep at it and maybe throw in a few faster reps here and there just to keep things moving smile.gif

Those bends are great too, you got them very accurate !! Well done cool.gif
