First things first Since we are dealing with voicings in the video chat sessions, I will take the opportunity to direct you towards the following materials: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...st&p=596286 These are a few charts which I have designed, dealing with chord voicings The system is simple: 1) For each chord type you need to follow the root note which is encircled 2) All the positions can be applied to ANY root note and each one has a different note in the bass 3) Try to get them in your system and when I get back I will tell you about a mechanism to deduce them all by moving notes around starting in a given position What say you my talented friend? Good question mate In these charts you will notice that all the voicings have their root notes belonging to the A, D and G strings. I haven't included any of the ones having their roots on the low E string Those are the ones which you can use when dealing with dropped tunings - I will make up a chart and post it in the same thread where you found the other ones I never took the time to think which ones are the most useful but usually when dealing with dropped tunings, I like to use 9th chords and really nice versions of the major and minor chords, while using the lowest string de-tuned. Cosmin [/quote] Not all just yet working through some chord progressions now and using the inversions to make the least amount of movement from one chord to the next as an excercise to get more familiar with each . Great to hear this man A good example of how little you can move on the fretboard is trying to play the CM7 Am7 FM7 G7 progression, using the CM7 having its root note on the D string and the Am7 having its b3rd in the bass (on the D string), the FM7 having its 5th in the bass (on the D string) and the G7 having its 5th in the bass...guess what, also on the D string You literally move 2 frets to go from FM7 to G7 otherwise all the chords are using C in the bass, the note having multiple functions.
