Hi there,

my name is Jason and I am really excited to be here. I have played guitar for 22 years, and have studied with a jazz teacher for the last 14 years. I started playing guitar when I was fifteen, and my first teacher taught me songs I wanted to learn: The Who, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Clapton, AC/DC.

i learned some solos and chords, but never the skills to shred.

Even now in my jazz studies, i struggle with fluidly improvising. I can read standard notation and can play beautiful chord melodies, but my solos fall short.

I teach guitar full time, and a lot of my students want to rock out. I have a few songs I can teach them, but I have mostly stuck to traditional note reading technique which a lot of my students struggle with.

I was really excited to discover Kris's GuitarMaster Class.

I have played around with some of the ideas and am finding new inspiration.

I took the name Rusty Strings because it comes from one of my favorite Grateful Dead songs:

"dust off those rusty strings just one more time......

gonna make 'em shine!"

glad to be here, and hope to get to know some of you.

Jason

"Fact is, nothing in the world bores me more than gear...If I played thru your rig, I would still sound like me. Van Halen would sound like Van Halen. Brian May...etc. Very early in my career I decided to focus on creating music and not being a guitar tech. Being a good guitar tech is a very different and extremely difficult job, so why not leave it to a pro?"
