Hi mate!! Welcome to your Gab's Army thread!!
Could you please tell me a bit about you, your musical tastes, influences, strengths and weaknesses? I would need some videos of you playing rhythm and solo guitar, so please post your best material here. If you have some music or ideas of your own, also post them here. Also let me know how you think that I can help you and what are your expectations for our job. You can check the other Army's thread to discover the different modalities of this project. The principles of our Army are: + Improve your technique + Make music and solos + Have fun + Destroy the enemy (hahaha not realy just kidding... ) This post has been edited by Gabriel Leopardi: Aug 14 2012, 05:19 AM -------------------- My lessons

Sorry for the late reply i have just bought a block of land and things have been full on lately, i have been struggling to fit in any time for guitar but i try to still play unplugged with my metrenome whenever i can even if its just 10 mins here and there.
musical tastes were predominantly metal for the last 10 years but lately i have been listening to everything (country, rock, blues, and still metal) willie adler would be a strong influence, from lamb of god. none others i can think of that have shaped my playing but lots of little ones over the years. strengths would be fast rhythm with lots of low e string broken up by single note phrases. weaknesses moving quickly over the strings and fretboard, knowing what frets are in key without thinking, creative phrasing. i love seeing and hearing full on riffs played all over the guitar just a quick example i found http://youtu.be/oTmE_WDZHpk its way to advanced for me but i am prepared for the long haul to get there. that guy wrote that song so he must have a fair amount of underlying knowledge. as for how you cant help me is teach me what has helped you be a great player, i would like to learn all styles of music but i get bored easy so i work better if i have lots of very different things to learn at once that way i can alternate and stay motivated. the only 2 videos i have of me playing for now are http://youtu.be/2JzChyPJ7Bk http://youtu.be/a7_ay_PqIVM the second one is a few years ago but i can still play it sorry for the mammoth post but i tried to answer in detail, looking forward to hearing back |

Hi mate! Thanks for all this information! Let's start working on your technique and also in knowing more the fret-board.
First, we will use this exercises to warm up and also to train your left hand. WARMING UP & ENDURANCE And these exercises are to train alternate picking technique and crossing strings. RIGHT HAND III /ALTERNATE PICKING (Crossing strings) I have two questions: 1. Are you able to record videos weekly to show me your progress? 2. What do you know about scales and theory? I have read how scales and modes are made and while I'm reading them I understand the same as I can play a scale if I see it in front of me but remembering them i find a struggle. As for the rest of theory I would like to know more but remembering it is my biggest downfall |

DO you know how to add the blue note and the other chromatic notes that are usually added by players like Petrucci, Morse and Wylde? Let's add this lesson to this week's training: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/solo-guit...picking-thirds/ -------------------- My lessons

If you don´t have Guitar Pro, you can download Tux Guitar.
QUOTE ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TuxGuitar ) TuxGuitar is a free, open source tablature editor,[3] which includes basic features such as tablature editing, score editing, triplet support and the ability to import and export Guitar Pro gp3, gp4, and gp5 files.

as for the minor pentatonic i know the main position and can play outside of it but if you said play Gm pent starting on 10th fret i would have to listen to the notes and see if they sounded right saying the notes as i play is a great idea i struggle knowing what notes are where. what is the benifit of guitar pro over just tabs? Well, I asked about guitar pro because you said that you couldn't open the pdf files. You can also find guitar pro files in the ITC threads. The difference is that you can also listen to what is transcribed. As Korblitz said, you can use Tuxguitar that is a free soft very similar to guitar pro and which opens the same files. Let's add to this week a collaboration. You can choose one of the active collabs to join and record a solo over it. Then post it here and we will work on it together. I'm very interested in hearing what you can do with scales over a backing. what do you think? -------------------- My lessons

This take starts cool and has some nice moments, However I think that you could make the melodies more powerful if you first think something with your mind and then play it in your guitar. Try to create more interesting melodies singing over the track... and also using different note values. -------------------- My lessons
