> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hail, Marc !

Good to see you getting in on the REC action !

Main thing to improve would be the timing of those phrases. They're in a staggered 8th note triplet pace. (I think it's 8th note, you might have to check !) You could count a 1,2,3,4,5,6 - 1,2,3,4,5,6 over those phrases to help you figure out exactly how they should flow over the beat.

The sweeping at 0:20 doesn't really help you out here so I would stick to alternate picking like Marcus as it doesn't really need to speed of sweeping at that tempo smile.gif

I like your T shirt !! cool.gif

Hey Marc!

I agree with Ben - check out the way the notes sound in the original recording and emulate those 8th notes triplets as equal as possible. Ben's lesson - Picking Hand Basics, has transitions which will help out with this wink.gif

Try it biggrin.gif

Hi Marc, timing is everything here, try to work on this. As always, the key to success is practicing at lower tempos, only speed up when you can master the take at the slower tempo. I am sure with a bit of practice you will get there soon.

Absolutely agree with all the comments! Timing is the main issue in this take! I like it and you did a great job learning it! But I think if you would spend more time practicing it with a metronome at a slower tempo your groove will improve very fast!

Hi mate! Congrats on the new guitar! It's great! As my friends said, you have to concentrate on timing to improve this take. I think that you should use a metronome or the other backings to practice this slowly.
