Yeah... Valhalla is second on my list, right after Majesty ;-) I fully respect that people want to hear those songs, they are part of our history, they love those songs and there is nothing to complain about, but Majesty was written in 86, Valhalla in 88, and both have been in our set most of the time since those days... HEEEEELP ;-)

Hi!

Ill on the stage must be a terrible thing.

But mistakes on the stage you will never forget, and are the best stories you will remember, not the best gig wink.gif
As Marcus said
QUOTE
But to be honest, those things can be funny too, and they tend to become the things that we remeber forever

My short story:
After setting up our staff, the amp from the rhythm guitarist was dead. Back to the rehearsal room, to get a second amp.
After that a mic didnt work, the mixing at the begining was bad.
The strap button from the bass guitar break away, so he needed a screwdriver in the middle of the gig
The drummer started a break and I thought, ok I have to start with the solo, but I was to early *g*
The singer skipped a part from the song during the playing. *g*

Going well, and the wedding is wed aug 22nd!! ohmy.gif [

Getting excited, but a bit burnt-out. Gigs, full time work, just moved from an apt to a house we're renting....my busiest month EVER!!

I think I'm going to take a day off from "musical duties" and I have friend's bands covering the day. A Gypsy/swing jazz group for the outdoor ceremony, and my friends "New Solution" at the reception! I'll sing Stevie Wonder's "You are the Sunshine of My Life" but I'll probably leave the guitarin' to Dave Dernovsek (keys from EMULATOR). It's also the bass from EMULATOR, and the drummer from my old funk band "Voltronic"... a solid crew of musicians, and great friends!

Yeah, the keyboardist from EMULATOR can rip me to shreds with guitar!! These guys are my favorite band in town!

Also, and update from my gig-nightmare: Looks like I may have contracted a bit of food-poisoning, which triggered the whole event. NOT, simply exhaustion as I had originally thought. The day after the gig, I was puking out of the other end....leading me to believe that the carnitas at the taco stand may have given me a bit of bacterial food poisoning. No bueno. mad.gif

Ain't it just the way it goes? How are you Gabe? When's the wedding happening? biggrin.gif Will you play any song at your wedding?

Was it also a pain to re-record Valhalla in studio?

BTW I don't like it as much as your newer works (still awsome song though) smile.gif

Oh brother! Busy indeed - Gabe, I totally feel you with the food poisoning sad.gif I have a pretty sensitive stomach myself and I got burned a few times in my life so far. It was so bad, that I could not even sit on the side of my bed - take care amigo! Take great care with this stuff!

Now, those guys can really funk out! I love what they are doing!! You got two days of celibacy left my friend smile.gif Use them wisely and hopefully, when things settle down, you will be more active in the forum and we can resume our little thread together smile.gif Deal?

Absolutely!! biggrin.gif

I've always kept the Vivaldi riff as a late warmup routine, meaning that I use it at the end of my warmup once I'm almost ready to go. It stretches me a bit during that 4th position arpeggio and I love it.

I haven't played it in a few months, to be honest. This year, the Mozart Rocks! went on a bit of a hiatus because of the lack of funds sad.gif and the political turmoil in the country. Let's hope things will look brighter in the near future smile.gif

Funny enough re-recording Valhalla actually has been fun, don't ask me why ;-)

Maybe because of Kai Hansen? He seems to be a great guy smile.gif

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you had fun, I'm still amazed by the guitar tone on the new version every time I listen to it. ohmy.gif

Bummer! That is an awesome project. Hopefully it's one that won't go away, even if things slow down for a bit.

Or in the middle of romancing the new Mrs. Derper:

Derper: Oooh, honey, I'll be right back! ohmy.gif

Mrs.: WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!? mad.gif

Derper: I just got a new riff in my head & I have to go tab it out!

Forgive me, Derper, I just couldn't resist!

Not "back" yet, but married indeed! Back SOON.....working a 10hr shift at the mattress store, so I intend on dropping a vid or two and practicing a ton tomorrow!

Also, I just got my parker back yesterday for my gig yesterday....modded it with a 335 gibson 57 PAF neck pickup, so it's dual humbucker with a 3-way switch. No longer single-single-bridge humbucker. LOVE the new tone!

So yeah...Derpers new life still includes PLENTY of rockin'!!
