I kinda agree with Todd, i'm against death penalty but he should at least get a jail for life, not some luxury appartments..

Rehabilitation? After this guy BUTCHERED 69 CHILDRED IN COLD BLOOD? I"m sorry, but honestly, anyone that far gone is a lost cause.

And he gets a THREE BEDROOM SUITE! his prison cell is nicer than my apartment. And FREE HEALTH CARE/DENTAL! And, after his sentence they might hold him, but they also might let him go, so sorry but NO it's not a "Life Sentence" unless they sentence him with life without paroll. sad.gif

Seems like a slap on the wrist to be honest. We are not talking about skinheads beating people up here guys. This was the cold blooded murder of children.

If anyone on earth, ever deserved the death penalty it's this guy. But to put him in a 3 bedroom condo on tax payer benefits for two decades instead? That's just crazy.

+1 In fact they should have marched him out back directly after the verdict and put a 25 cent bullet in his nugget.
The punishment fits the crime.

First of all, I respect all well-thought out & researched opinions. That being said...

69 kids don't have a chance at being rehabilitated. Their families have to live knowing they will never be able to hug their loved one on earth ever again. They also have to live with the sadness & anguish of losing a loved one, being reminded of it on the victim's birthday or at family holidays.

Obviously, lessor crimes should offer a chance of rehabilitation. But if a person methodically plans out taking an innocent person's life, that person has given up any rights to their own & I don't think it's fair they continue their life freely when their victim is denied that opportunity. Once a person has purposefully taken another life, sure, they can be rehabilitated but must remain behind bars as property of the state & having no rights period.

Death penalty? Well, I do agree with the old "eye for an eye" penalty. But from what I've heard, our appeals process in the States (I understand we are talking about another country) ends up costing the taxpayers more in the long run. I'm satisfied that such a wicked individual rot behind bars being reminded daily what he or she has done til their final breath.

He just doesn't seem like he deserves it. I Know we are called to forgive. That is the best part of what we are. But once you have a psycho killing children in a calm fashion one after the other, reloading, going again. He crosses over in to not being worthy IMHO. If he were my own brother. I'd put him in the chair and throw the switch myself.

Norway has to be the most tolerant, forgiving place on planet earth bar none. Here that guy would not have made it to trial. sad.gif
