Hey guys! I just started my day so I'm checking GMC forum and I was listening to Linkin Park last album. I don't know if we have many fans of them here but I was thinking on starting this poll...

I only like old Linkin Park.

I hate being one of those people that say, "the old stuff is the only good stuff. They need to be like Hybrid Theory again." I get bands evolve but the sound of their first few albums before all of the Transformers crap was just so raw. It was such an in your face kind of sound that I enjoyed.

Plus, they don't really rap anymore either. I'm not THAT into rap but when they rapped it kind of interested me. Some may say it's good that they don't really do that but to me it's like they randomly mellowed out and had no more ideas.

hahah I like this phrase "I hate being one of those people that say, "the old stuff is the only good stuff.". I also dislike that thinking but I understand what you mean, I like and enjoy the new music, I think that it's a natural evolution for them, but I miss those big guitars that they used to have in the first albums.

I haven't hear the new Linkin Park. I got stuck at Meterora.

I'll give a listen to the new albums and then vote.

Thanks for reminding me to listen to LP.

I actually prefer their older stuff, though I liked the song "new divide". They have become more of a regular rock band nowadays.
When I saw them at Rock im Park this year I was really happy that they played quite a few songs of the Hybrid Theory album, didn't really expect that.

I like the new stuff, but love the old stuff even more!

They have a very good reason for evolving and changing their style of music and singing however. The lead singer, Chester Bennington, when he was younger he practiced singing every day until his lungs and throat were sore. He is known for his aggressive vocals screamed vocals and melodic vocals in his old stuff, but it was so extreme he started coughing up blood, etc. In turn, they had to reduce the lyrics and introduced various other styles of music to replace it.

All the members (Including Chester) are born again Christians. But their music is not Christian, thought it has a Christian feel to it. It's quite a good style I think.

Same old story eh? Seems like "The Old Stuff" really sticks with fans with lots of bands. Slayer, Metallica, etc. God bless Linkin Park for going pro and staying pro, but the new stuff is way more watered down. It always happens like that though it seems. But after all, they have mortgages to pay for wink.gif

It always seemed liked musicallly and lyrically they rehash the same themes way too much. There stuck on one thing and have no idea what do.

I loved old LP, the first three albums, although there were always a few disappointing tracks, but it was Linkin Park that got me into music. smile.gif A thousand suns was a big letdown, and the song I heard from the new album, wasn't as much rock as you like, so, didn't care to listen to the whole album.

laugh.gif It was Linkin Park's Numb that got me into music in general. Those big power chords. Then, in two years, when I used to be really into WWE, I liked the Rocking kinda themes, and also, that's when I heard Motorhead smile.gif You see that metal influence coming wink.gif There's more. At around 15, when me and one of my friend discovered I have a Chester like voice, we decided to form a band. We decided I'd do guitars and vocals, and he'll play drums. Though, he hasn't got one drum-set all his life dry.gif Then, while trying my brother to convince that Bass is cool, I heard about that guy called Cliff Burton of some band called Metallica. I heard their first album, and THAT changed my life. Both the other guys hated the early stuff, which I loved, especially the solos wink.gif Which got me into metal. The rest is history. cool.gif

And, this intimidated the other two soon to be band members, they never got their instruments laugh.gif
