Hey Ronaldo! I received and sent you some stuff about Mozart Rocks in the PM and regarding the recording - take your time brother, no one is hurrying you smile.gif Once you get a lesson right and record it as close to perfection as possible, no one will be able to take that brick from your 'building of guitar skill'!

Cosmin

I love the way you put it as a "brick", a foundation. I like that idea. Have seen some of your videos. Really amazing stuff, awesome!

I like your sound, you approach to the guitar, your note choices and the seemingly light - althouhg pationate - and even a little bit unpretentious way you seem to approach things, but, reality is, there is a lot of deepness in your music. I want to be able to do that too. To be able to choose the notes I wanna choose and produce the "sensations" and "feelings" with music the way I choose to do, and I want to glorify God with it.

Well, anyway, time to climb down the from the clouds and dreams and get back to the hard worlk and sweat, lol lol

I'll let you know when I finish. I want to finish it so that we can start on something else together, my friend.

Thanx for the help

Cosmin, in Ben's video his right hand is a litte bit anchored all the time, since he is only picking one string for the exercises. I am having a litte bit of a probem to find the right spot to my right hand when I try to move the hand/wrist up and down, mainly with the lower strings. sometimes part of my right hand touchs the lower E or the A string and if feels a little awkward and I am feeling a little pain on my right hand. Could you give me a hand with that? Also, I feel that I have developed a strange habit on my left hand... In the beginning I used to turn on the metronome to play those basic chromatic exercises, such as 1234 and so forth... but then, when I felt a little more confortable playing those, I quit using the metronome to play the chromatic runs and it seems now that, everytime time that I try to play really slow (such as 60 bpm) the chromatic things, my left hand (and my brain) refuses to slow down and I can feel that there is a lack o sync between my right hand and fingers 3 and 4 of the left hand, but only when I am playing slow.... go figure! that is nuts...

any advices on that? think I should see a psichiatrist or something like that? sad.gif (kidding on the shrink thing, of course)

seriouslt now, man

it bothers me a lot and it makes me feel like a total amateur and that I spent the last 5 months spoiling my techinique.... and that some bad habits are showing up...

Heey smile.gif

Take it easy man, let's see...The right hand, well, anchoring the right hand - as I am doing it, is usually with my fingers in the air and I only find a sweet spot for my wrist to sit on, somewhere in the place where the strings enter the actual bridge smile.gif I always like to palm mute stuff when I play

About the metronome ...mate, patience, focus and determination are your friends here smile.gif First, before starting to play, count the 16th notes in your head or out loud as the beat goes on and on (I assume u are using 4/4 quarter notes) So, for each quarter note, count 1,2,3,4 etc Once it gets natural, use notes on the guitar instead of numbers smile.gif

Let me know how this feels, k?

Cool! I'll try some adjustments here and let you know when I finish it. in the mean time, I own you a video, lol, of me playing Ben's picking hand basics...
there you have...
I have been practicing bits and pieces for the last weeks and could see a little improvement on my right hand... well, I still cannot play those sixteenth notes at 120 bpm as Ben plays... but, I am getting there...

Cosmin, one honest question: do you think, by what you are being able to see me doing for you and for Alex, that I am progressing too slow?
do you think I should be better by now (more than five months)?

thanx again for your kindness and help. looking forward to hear from you regarding the video, mate!

p.s.: you a nice fella, do you know that? I can tell you really WANT to help us, you know? and it seems that you really enjoy watching us beginners grow.... this is very good. And may God bless you in return for everything you are doing to support us and to teach us, mate...

Hey Ronaldo! First of all, thanks for all your kind words... You have no idea how good they made me feel smile.gif Thank you man!

Second, Your problem does not reside in your right hand or your left, but on your perception of the subdivisions. You should try the exercise I suggested with the metronome, without the guitar at first - when you play you are a bit out of balance and notes are uneven because you do not perceive them as even entities smile.gif Try to see groups of four equal notes over each beat and tap them on a table with your finger or count loud, then play the guitar.

Let me know how it goes. And about the 5 months smile.gif Ronaldo, we all have various synthesis speeds so don't worry - are you competing agains someone and I didn't know about it? smile.gif

You're welcome, buddy!

And, about the whole competition thing, touché!!! you got me there... you sir, are a fine swordsman, and has hit the target, wink.gif

I guess you could say, when I look in the mirror I see a gigantic oponent called "high self expectations"... It is one problem I have, always fighting to be better and to excel.... Part of it is due to the fact that I have listened to music almost my entire life and, for the most part, have been in touch, musically speaking, with the "créme de la créme", the top notch of the guitar players, such as allan holdsworth, john mclaughlin, to name a few, and, when I look a you and Alex playing, sometimes I feel like there is a LOT of stairs to climb... you guys have acomplished so much.... and are at such an amazingly superb level, my friend...
But anyway, I see your point... that was just me taking some things off my chest.... haha

But then again, it is "touché" indeed... hahahhaha

Ok, I'll do what you see. This is why, the subdivisions, than I was feeling that I always were playing somewhat different from Ben, when I tried to play along the video, no matter how "on time " I appeared to be playing.. I'll keep on working and will show you the results, master Obi Wan Kenobi, mellow.gif

Peace, my friend

Ronaldo, if you need to talk to me, please do smile.gif I know it feels good to be able to share thoughts with people, so talk to me whenever you feel like it.

Well, I have the same thing, I like to be able to fully express myself, but I want to be the best as myself, not as somebody else smile.gif That's what you should strive for!

Looking forward to the vid biggrin.gif

Oh, that's very kind and thoughtful of you to say that, my friend. I really really appreciate that. Same on me. Whenever you feel you want to talk, even when is not about music, but it could be anything that might be bothering you and you need a friend to talk too, you can count on me. Rebeca, my fiancee (you can see her on the picture of my profile on Facebook), does not live in the same city as I do, for now, and here in Brasilia, the place where I live, people seem somewhat cold and distant, albeit the brazillian people has the tendency to be warm and friendly, here it is not entirely like that. Even the people from the church have the costume to be far away from each other, sadly... So I know what is like to be kinda forced to develop a friendship, a relationship from afar, with friends, parents, relatives and the woman I love...

But I digress, and I am not here to investigate the misery and pains of the human soul, right sir Cosmin? Kkk lol

Ok, regarding guitar and music, and since you are my mentor, do you have the time to help to make sense of a learning path? You provably have tons of things to do, but, if you have some spare time, I could use your wisdom and knowledge on how to develop a growth plan containing all that I have to study to be able to be the musician I want to be. what to study, the proper order to do it, and so on...

I could be trying to skip steps here and maybe you have something like that planned further down on the road for me, and, if that is the case, forgive me and I will wait for the proper time to come.

Enough of words... My fingers hurt for typing so many words on a tiny phone keyboard screen... Lol

You're welcome, Cosmin. biggrin.gif

During the week, usually one hour in the morning plus one hour in the evening.

Saturdays I usually have three or four hours and Sundays I used to rest, but, sometimes I play and when I do, you can add in one or two hours...

Well, Ronaldo, in order to get things rolling, you need to work on some things in parallel and for a 2h/ day schedule, I'd say we begin like this:

30 min - technique - alternate picking/ legato/ articulation (you can choose one/ each day)
30 minutes - theory
30 min - ear training
30 min - rhythm

When you have 3 hours - you can also implement another 30 min for another technique and 30 min for free jamming or working on your own ideas, or you can use the whole hour for that smile.gif

What do you think?

In my opinion, this sort of schedule can work very good at this point!

Hey, "compadre"! lol

hope everything's alright with you and that your heart and soul are prospering, my friend

Hey, I would like to thank you for the practice routine that you suggested. It really is very complete and thorough and it will come in handy, I am sure.

I had to be off for a few days, had to go visit my folks in the country... I am still working on the thins you guys have given me and when I make some progress, I'll post here for you, ok?

Dude, recently I talked to Gab and found out that he is my "neighbour" (he is from Argentina), lol

he is realy a nice guy and also offered to help me. I told him I am working with you and Alex as my close mentors, but, anyway, I think is probably for my best if I can learn a thing or two with him too, right?

Lookinf forward to hearing news from you, my friend

hey, sad thing: my guitar has a string buzzing problem, AGAIN... think I am gonna spend some serious bucks and take it to a luthier here whom was indicated by a common friend...

it is the third time in six months, that I am forced to take the guitar to a repair shop...third time is the charm? don't really know....

Hey Ronaldo! Take your time man wink.gif When you're ready, let me know. Aldo, take care of that guitar, so that it's ready to jam!

About Gabe, sure thing man - in life, we learn from everyone around us so why not, go for it! Gabe is a great guitarist and musician and he can teach you A LOT of stuff.

Thanks for caring man! Regarding my relationship - Things may yet solve themselves smile.gif As they say 'Hope is the last one to die out'

Hey "cosmic" Cosmin!

First, let me talk about something serious:

bro, let me know if you are getting bored or offend when I make my jokes, ok? If you don't like me naming you with nicknames and stuff, please let me know. I try to keep things funny and cooler since normally we all have been thru a lot during the week so it is good to be able to "chilax" and just have some fun.

Ok, I am working real hard on a lot of things guitar wise, including the asignment you gave. I promise you and Alex that I will be able to finish the tasks soon and will also post the results here,

In the meantime, I recorded a little video of myself doing some fun with the guitar, just playing somethings without having set goals and the need to do it right. just for fun. I can see some progress thanx to you and Alex. It might seem little progress, but it makes me feel good nonetheless.

check it out and please tell me what do you think. I post it in Gabe's thread so that he could watch my current level. those chord changes are better, the bending still needs some work but I am trying to use the first finger (when I remember to do so) to mute the other fingers.

Anyway, here the video (inside the thread):

https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_fo...showtopic=46430

nice "talking" to you again, mate! cool.gif

Hey RonaldoooO!

I am in no way annoyed by anything you do mate! I enjoy talking to you and I also have good news - I am back on track with my girl smile.gif

Now, getting back to your video - you have pointed well and I would also like to add something which I remember I had issues with myself - direction smile.gif About 9 years ago, I wasn't able to create a flowing piece of music just because i was too caught up with what I knew how to play or with the desire of being technical, rather than being able to reproduce what I should've heard in my head. Once you will be able to use the music in you, your playing and musicality will be boosted to another level!

Let's see what you are cooking for me with the lesson biggrin.gif
