In my mission to go back to great guitarists of yesteryear to lean from them and their playing, I've started to look into Ozzy, I've never bothered with him before.

I have only really heard Zakk as I'm a big fan of Pride and Glory (what an ace album that is)

Is it Randy Rhoads, Brad Gillis, Jake E Lee, Zakk Wylde, or Gus G

Say why you like them and post up some youtubes

Randy for sure, closely followed by Jake for me!

Not the best quality vid, sorry.

Saw Ozzy live with Jake and was blown away so I'm slightly biased!(Even having seen Ozzy with Brad and later with Zakk)

Jake takes the cake for me.

Fun Fact: My uncle(biological Aunt's ex husband) and Randy were best friends. He has the third Rhoads production model hanging on his wall. I actually got a copy of every Ozzy vinyl from back in the day from that guy. He was really cool.

I slightly edge towards Jake as Bark at the Moon was the 1st Ozzy album I had but I really like the tone and cleanliness of Randy's licks and riffs smile.gif

It was indeed one of the old Concordes. I wish it was the black and gold one, because even though I am not a fan of gold, that is one gorgeous looking V.

Sadly, I was only 11 at the time and wasn't ready to play guitar. It took two more years for that to set in.

I love all of them, each has its own style and is killer. However my favorite era is "No More Tears" and "Ozzmosis" so maybe Zakk is a bit over the others... but Randy is a legend, and Gus is the perfect mix of both... dlfmdlffm this is difficult.. tongue.gif

I like the Rhoads stuff the best. Blizzard of Oz and Diary are just classics and have the best songwriting. Bark at the Moon has some stellar leads by Jake. No Rest for the WIcked (Zakk Wylde) is one of my top choices too.

you really narrowed it down DG , come on that was funny

rhoads is my favorite , a guitarist capable of triple tracking his leads, phenomenal talent
I still have an unwrapped blizzard on vinyl

Have to go back to Randy smile.gif The impact he had on the genre and the form just can't be overstated.

As Gabe said - it is difficult! smile.gif But, the thing is, Zakk is my favorite as well, due to the fact that aside from playing the guitar like he does, he can also sing absolutely beautiful and he has a complete personality as a human being, stage musician and so on.

well... randy is awesomwe and a legend
zakk has his glorious moments but I think the last albums with him were not among the best ozzy albums..
gus is really a good combination of all former ozzy guitarists...

right now I tend to jake cause bark at the moon is really great and I like his style of playing..

but there never was a bad guitarist with ozzy..

Best with ozzy or best in general?

In general id have to say Gus G, melodically, technically, he is just far superior to everyone. His songwriting is amazing, I mean come on:

For me at least, nothing any other guitarist with Ozzy even comes close. I will probably be alone on this one, but then again, I dont think Gus belongs with Ozzy at all.
