Guten Morgen (Good Evening in German),

Alright, so basically Marcus inspired me to pick up building custom guitars. And go figure, it inspired me so much that I'm considering building my first guitar to replace my current one. (Ibanez ARX 320)
So, here are some first thought parts that I pulled in:

ESP Forest Body
--Mahogany, Quilted Maple Top, Red Dye + Black Side Burst

JEM Prestige neck
--Black + Vine Fret Inset

Original Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge

DiMarzio DP219BK D Activator Humbucker Pickup
--Black, Dual

The ESP Forest Body was a body that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it. The Mahogany Body with the Quilted Maple Top, Red dye, and black side burst was kind of a first thought idea. I may change that idea somewhere down the line though.

Couple notes: I did the whole C++ comment thing (for those of you who are programming literate) as a kind of a note to myself. I heard from a friend of mine that Maple Necks and Mahogany bodies were the way to go as far as metal playing, seeing as that's what I play most of the time.

I did, however, list the JEM Prestige neck, simply because when I saw Steve Vai perform, and I saw that neck, I fell in love, I wont lie XD
And then I saw Pavel's JEM, and I told myself that I would pursue it
Now, instead of going out and spending $2200 on a guitar that doesnt completely strike my fancy, I'm searching for a company that would build just the neck for me. Wether that is possible or not, we'll find out.

Anyways, I've always heard good things about the Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridges, so that was almost automatic. Any suggestions as to different types?

The Pickups are actually a gray area. If any of you have seen the Ibanez Xiphos Story (<a href="">[link]</a>), the pickups that were used in building Necrophagist's solo guitarist's Ibanez were DiMarzio D-Activator humbuckers. I am honestly very lost as far as good humbuckers go for metal-styled music. So, any suggestions?

And yes, I am aware that this is nowhere near all the parts I will need. I just kinda threw together the major parts that came to my mind, so if anybody has any suggestions as to what I should buy as far as other parts go, or even if you have a better idea for the ones I listed above, let me know.
Help is much appriciated, no matter how small :]

Thanks everybody, I hope to keep this list updated until the day comes that I buy the parts I need

I'm in the process of building my own actually, and my thread has a ton of good links in it

in particular, check out that warmoth site. I think they could build the neck to exacting specifications for you, if you want. How much were you thinking of spending?

Gear: Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster, Gibson '67 RI Flying V, Mesa Boogie F-30 112 combo, crazy pedals.
