I was in my local Guitar Shop when a friend of ours came in and asked if he could put something on the Stereo. Dave (the owner) said 'Sure' and that's when I heard it for the first time, it had only been released the day before!!. I was 20 at the time.

Weirdly, I can remember the first time I heard "flying in a blue dream". My Dad and I went to some lake in Michigan to watch the 4th of July fireworks, and rocked out to that album. I know he had turned me onto "Surfing" just a bit before that... I was probably about 10 yrs old. My Dad was a huge musical influence for me, and turned me onto so many great artists at a young age! Thanks Dad! biggrin.gif

It's definitely a Dad's obligation to introduce their kids to awesome guitar music ! smile.gif

MOST DEFINITELY! My mom and dad did the same! I can remember in the 6th or 7th grade...mom came to me with 2 CDs - Metallica and Guns N Roses - both being a couple of compilations smile.gif I got TOTALLY HOOKED! It was about 1996 I guess, but yeah, those were my first music CDs smile.gif

I didn't hear this whole album in its entirety until a couple months ago! I always liked Satriani but never owned any of his albums. Long story short, I heard Ice 9 on the radio again and was like I really need to finally get this album. Then I picked up his "wormholes and wizards" cd and am now totally hooked on Satch.

The first time I heard anything by Joe Satriani was on GMC. Zsolt had posted a cover lesson of "Always with me Always with You" And I remember listening to it and thinking what an amazing piece of music. So I started looking for the CD, but I couldn't find it locally so I had to order it off Amazon. When I got it I sat back and listened to the entire CD in one setting. From that point on Joe has always been one of my favorites, and "Surfing" is still my favorite album by him. smile.gif

Hmmm, I was in the 7th grade when I went visiting a friend of mine - his dad was into rock music and all of us in the classroom were discovering it, so it was a big rock movement in my class biggrin.gif

Well, the thing is - I saw a CD with Satch in his house and asked who that guy is so, my friend had no clue either. We put the CD into the player and we were both dropping our jaws at the sounds we heard. I remember it was a compilation of Satriani songs. Back in that day, CDs were just making their entrance in Romania and the original albums were VERY scarce.

I got another Satriani one laugh.gif

One morning I found myself wearing Adam's clothes, on the floor guitar in hand and the computer booming with Satch backing tracks. I remember going at a friend's birthday party the evening before. How I got home, what happened... I don't know. I only know that good ol' Satch and my JEM kept me safe throughout the night. I think I was about 21... laugh.gif
