Ritchie Blackmore has the right attitude towards this Rock n Roll Hall of Fame B.S. in my opinion. I've never really understood the excitement about awards. They really don't mean anything, especially when they don't come from, or involve the people that matter and understand that world.

I'm not exactly sure about the press thing.. the press can be very cutting and bitter but I honestly thought they were like that everywhere ! biggrin.gif

I think it's true that the average Joe does begrudge others success and especially wealth. They all have the attitude of 'He's rich so it's all ok for him. Why doesn't he give his money away etc ?'

For a non Commie island the Brits can sure have an attitude of 'We should have part of what they've got. Why should they have success ?'

Regards the awards thing, I think he's probably right. Although there's the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards. smile.gif

Interesting article, and I like what Ritchie said.

I never knew the british people were just like the germans...most of my fellow countrymen are jealous of successfull people as well, just like Ben described.

Then again...we already found out that all british people are german in reality.

I think it has to do with being a european. And more with the idea of monarchies and how we group up in communities. It's to make an argument when I haven't really thought about it. Different worlds, I guess.

Here in spain we have the saying "Envidia cochina"...It's a hard phrase to translate... "porcile envy".

Maybe you like this type of bands Gitarrero:

I like Richie Sambora cause not only does he play great and bluesy guitar solos but he is also a great singer.

Ha! You didn't see that coming!
