Guys...I was exchanging impressions with Ben a little earlier and I remembered my most beautiful 7 Summers (13 to 20 years old) when I spent literally each of my summer holidays at the mountain house. We used to go fishing in the lakes up on the mountains, sleep underneath the stars, eat what we found in nature, build small fires, explore caves and such things. THE LIFE! THE LIFE! Oh how I miss those years... Here I go nostalgic on you laugh.gif

Well I was curious to know if you guys have such memories and if you used to be or you still are, adventurous/ nature people smile.gif

I think it's safe to say that anyone who ever clicked on the "GMC chat" button can be called an adventurer.

And I have teenage memories just like you...going out into nature, sleeping under the stars and stuff, playing guitar with my friends who would sing along...those were the days. And now we are getting grey and old Cosmin! Grey and old!

I think I am having a midlife crisis now...

I still do like it..
we have a liitle cabin in the woods and a few times a year I travell there with my children and we spend a weekend in the woods.
no selctricity, no running water, no toilet...just a littel cabin with an oven an a place to sleep...
after 5 seconds you have left all the daily things that bother you behind..
amazing!
when i was young I even brought my guitar but nowadays my children keep me so busy there, that I wouldn´t have time play...

and I spent nearly three month in Alaska after I finished university and some time of that I was kayaking through Alaska ... this was an adventure..

but now I am in need of more comfortable things...you don´t get younger...

AK Rich is my name and adventure is my game biggrin.gif
I love getting into the outdoors , especially fishing/rafting trips down on the Kenai River. Here are a few pics from one of my fishing /rafting trips on the way to the fishin hole where the Kenai River dumps into Skilak lake at Hidden Creek.

This first pic is right after launching at the bottom of Kenai Lake where the river runs out of it.

[attachment=29190:026_23A.jpg]

The next few are of Blood Cove, the first good spot to camp after leaving Kenai Lake, thats me cooling off in the glacier fed river.

[attachment=29191:013_10A.jpg]

A picture of the camp at Blood Cove and a couple of me with some nice little Rainbow Trout smile.gif

[attachment=29192:014_11A.jpg]
[attachment=29193:richatthekenai.jpg]
[attachment=29194:020_17A.jpg]

And then Finally our camping spot at the fishing hole on Skilak Lake at Hidden Creek, The last one is of my buddy Dusty and my dog Dude playing with a big driftwood raft, Dude loved to fish too, man I miss that dog, he was just like me , a little bit nuts. smile.gif

Beautiful landscape Wow !

Alaska is a place i have not been yet but still got in mind .

One big problem right now is to travel with my dog when there is to use a plane - it is possible of course
but a torture for the dog and often animals die on board in the package room .

A friend of my family just been there and made it with a big camping mobile - what pictures rolleyes.gif

wow, ak rich!!
alaska was my once in a lifetime trip after i finsihed university!!!
what a wonderful place to be.
I always dream of getting back there with my whole family but I will have to wait until my children are a little bit older...
there were so many great moments..driving up to prudhoe bay in the arctic circle, going with a boat along the aleut islands and most unforgettable: kayaking around the coast near juneau when some grey whales came to the surface for breathing just a few meters away from our kayak.....

I always thought that living there is a gift!
when I see your pictures I can´t wait to come back there again!! tongue.gif

so, take care of alska and its nature, cause I will be coming back!!!

Thanks Dieter! Glad you enjoyed the Pics, yeah thats one thing we see alot of up here in the summer is motorhomes.
I too would be leary of putting my dog on a plane for such a long fight, but if you ever get up this way I would love to extend an invitation to stop by for a visit to share adventure stories and perhaps have a small adventure of our own. smile.gif

Thanks Wollace, I see you have already had a taste of the Alaska experiance, that kayaking adventure sounds awesome ! As long as I have been here I have yet to explore the inside passage or coastal areas around Juneau but I do plan on changing that wink.gif And driving up the Dalton highway to Prudhoe Bay? now That is a road trip!, I have been to the Northern coast myself but I took a fight wink.gif . I went up to Point Barrow to play music for a weekend at the Dry Haul, They call it the Dry Haul because Alchoholic beverages cannot be bought or sold there in Barrow. And the only guys I know that go out and around the Aleutians are hardcore fisherman types altho I would'nt mind exploring them as well smile.gif Alaska is a big place and for the most part still very wild and there are a million adventures to be had.
Also the invitation I extended to Dieter is extended to you as well or any of you guys and gals for that matter , we would love to have you smile.gif
Also we have a saying here in Alaska that once you have been here and you have to leave, you are destined to return. So when you say you are comming back , I have no doubts smile.gif And we will definately take care of it for you untill you can make it back and then some.

What can I say Ben, I love to get outdoors and contrary to what people may think we actually have had some great summers up here and well.. I have always tanned very dark, I went to Hawaii one summer and tourists were asking me for directions as if I was a local laugh.gif
And again If any of you guys and gals are coming this way definately give me a heads up so that perhaps we can at least meet and maybe even have an adventure of our own.

And now as I get to the bottom of this post I see that I neglected to quote Cos but I didnt forget about ya man! wink.gif I am glad I could provide some inspiration to get out into nature more yourself. It really is a great thing to do isn't it? I always feel so refreshed durring and after these kinds of trips into the great outdoors, well... once I get over being tired from them anyways biggrin.gif . Work hard and play harder!!
