Oh I do agree sir ! smile.gif

Btw, have you ever tried jump rope training, like boxers use ? It's incredibly intense and hard to learn but it's amazingly effective !

You're right I do a lot of skipping it can be very intense training especially is you work in moves like two spin of the rope to one jump or sprint skipping and crossing the rope. Plus if you put on some fast pace music you can time your jumps with the song. wink.gif
I just can't help thinking though that if that guy pulled a blade on ya all you have to do is run laugh.gif There's no way he's gonna catch you is there.

At 0:35, all I could think of was "the body was found with 46 stab wounds in what looks to be a crime of passion".

I'm just still trying to learn the basic running on the spot thing.. it's hard as hell. I'm a long way from double unders ! laugh.gif

But yes, you're right. I actually think the person most equipped for self defence is Usain Bolt, not some 9th Dan Jujutsu expert ! tongue.gif

It's really not that hard. Get a speed rope not leather it's a bit easier to get it round. At first jump really high (with both feet) and spin it twice fast just till you get used to the pace of the spin keep doing it just the once till you can get it. After you get it most times pretend your counting beats in a song and every 4th beat or skip spin it twice, so 1,2, 3, jump etc, it worked for me anyway. wink.gif
Why not start a thread and Post video's of your progress.

Rope jumping would be a great warmup indeed! biggrin.gif Anyway, in Ken Jutsu, there's a sick warmup drill called Haya Suburi, in which your body should stay straight and your feet should alternate a back and forth bouncy pacing while swinging the sword. All this is done at a steady but accelerated pace. When you step in front you cut, when you step backwards you arm. Pretty difficult to explain, but it requires a great amount of energy and coordination - check it out in the vid below:

We usually start the training session with about 100-150 Haya Suburi laugh.gif
