I know this is some kind of guitar forum, but I also enjoy the complete lack of guitars from time to time. Also many guitarists created great things by merging techniques and compositions from/for other instruments into their style.
In any case some great way for inspiration to get into something not guitar based/supported.

So only rule for things posted here would be: no guitar in the standard lineup
(don't care if there are guest appearances or live things with guitar in use but it should be mainly guitar-free)

I'm one of the ppl. more narrowed down to music with actual instruments.
Music I know fitting into this topic is mainly piano/keyboard driven.

I certainly enjoy some of those Japanese jazzy key- and drum driven post/math - rock projects like this one:

being the average prog-rock guy, I also shouldn't forget Emmerson, Lake and Palmer or Van der Graaf Generator.

some solo-projects (also mainly keyboard artists, like Rick Wakeman or Hiromi Uehara)

and occasionally some classical music and soundtracks (one of my fav. composers being Clint Mansell)

ah almost forgot him, for some reason I enjoy his solo work much more than what he did with DT on the last albums.
got tired of all that scale noodling, whatever the speed is... pulling off weird sounds with an Iphone doesn't help much either.

btw. added you on last.fm

Yeah I also enjoyed their 2nd album quite a lot smile.gif

I quite like a bit of Euphoric Trance when in the car.

Van Canto, of course! Dunno if this counts though, as they do their best to imitate guitars.

I discovered this guy back in the 90's, pretty sure there are no guitars involved in this tune. Mark Wood

There are a lot of songs and artists I can post, but this guy grabs me almost with every song. This one really captivates me. Many of his songs got guitar in them (he plays guitar), but this one doesn't. smile.gif
