Don't know if there's many Rush fans out there, but I'd be really interested in some Lifeson-inspired lessons. He's a fascinating guitarist - sophisticated chord sequences, odd time signatures and excellent use of effects are a few of his trademarks. I think he's underrated sometimes because a lot of what he does is subtle and blends seamlessly with the rhythm section. Plus he's influenced Petrucci and a host of other great guitarists, so he must have something going for him wink.gif

Whahoo...lol...

I have been trying to get an early/middle pre 1980 Lifeson lesson for some time..

Maybe if a few more people jump on this thread we can get some old lifeson lessons.

I think alot of people will be very surprised just how good a player he really is.

Agreed! A lot of his clever playing gets overlooked because Lee and Peart are a lot busier than the average rhythm section wink.gif

A lesson of Lifeson-inspired licks from the 2112/Farewell to Kings/Hemispheres era would be great!

His best work by far. He is a much better live player. The 2 live albums all the world's a stage and exit stage left are his best hands down.

Well my friends, I think you're in luck. In the near future Muris is doing a request lesson based on Alex Lifeson and the Necromancer.

I dont think it will be on all of it because it has 3 parts..

Maybe if we ask nicely he will do separate lessons based on parts II & III smile.gif

Are you kidding? I'm a HUGE Rush fan, and Alex Lifeson fan. My friends & I (Bassist/Drummer) just played together the other day, and we all learned just about the entire first side of Hemispheres - with Taurus Moog Pedals! Had a blast! We did it when we were kids and I felt like a kid again (Hemispheres was 1978). Our Bassist is a complete Rush freak. (me too, I think)

Alex is definitely an original when it comes to chords - mainly because he had to find a way to fill up space and act as a base to offset Geddy's melodic runs and Neil's intricate accents. He admits himself Rush has turned him into a better rythme player than a lead player, although he's no slouch when he solos. I've learned sooo much learning Alex's stuff (mostly by ear).

Snakes & Arrowes is really, really great. It takes a while to really appreciate most songs that Rush puts out. The 20th time you hear it is completely different than the first time, because so much goes over your head at first, theres so much there.

ANyway...take care.
