Gear That You Regret Buying? Options

So I was wondering what kind of gear you guys actually regret buying and maybe say why, also if you just regret buying that version of the pedal and should have bought another one e.g. If you bought a Dunlop CryBaby 95Q but you regret that you didn't buy a Dunlop CryBaby 535Q instead. It might help any future buyer

Anyways, since no one else seems to be going (Wonder why ), I'll start

I regret buying MXR 1974 Vintage Phase 90, because it doesn't have 9V cable support & no LED... had to use battery or open it and use the cable from my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power Plus 2 direct into it, which actually ended up in me breaking the cable, since I was in a rush and tried to get it out right before concert anyways just a phaser not the tuner, but I should have bought a MXR Custom Shop Phase 90 LED instead, it has 9V cable support & LED

And due to playing Red Hot Chili Peppers, I wanted a Fuzz pedal & I definitely regret buying Electro Harmonix Big Muff PI USA, it is seriously massive and again no 9V cable support, but it is so freaking huge, it's like a pedal board in it self.. I should have bought Electro Harmonix Big Muff PI /Tone Wicker instead, way smaller and has Tone wicker (no idea what that is, but more features, always better ) if I should buy an Big Muff, but if I get a new Fuzz Pedal I'm thinking of another one, but which one, I'm not quite sure of yet.

I somewhat regret buying Dunlop Crybaby CB-535Q, it annoys me in certain ways.. Since I have no idea if it is turned on or not, and the options you can make, doesn't seem to do anything major or anything at all for that matter, I kind of looked at Dunlop Crybaby 95Q, since it goes back to being off automatic if you release your foot.

And I kind of also regret buying my Schecter C-1 Hellraiser FR, only because it has Floyd Rose, I bought that guitar back in the days when I just looked at it and I went like WOW that looks cool and I can do dive bombs, but never really used it, and definitely need to get a pro to set it up correctly, so maybe I'll like it again someday.

And my Fender Road Worn 50's Stratocaster.. This guitar is just so bizarre, it sounds great, but jesus christ.. First time I bought it I bought it from Thomann, and when I got it I couldn't bend it on the 12-17th fret of the E,B & G string it would just loose tone, which is of course completely annoying, so I send it back, without any problems (of course) got my money back, and bought it from a local dealer in Denmark, well, wow it is just way better no tone loss, but guess what! That came later on the same frets, and I has been adjusted like 4 times, and now its starting to come back again.. Worst 1000 EUR spent in my life.. And what the dealers says is that it is just normal, which is weird because my 200 EUR Ibanez doesn't do it, my Schecter or ESP doesn't either..

Anyways, a few items, a good amount of money I regret spending, but of course not completely wasted, except I feel that the Fender is almost completely wasted, but oh well.. :S

I regret buying my Fender Mustang I. I was once excited and even did an unboxing video for it.



The clerk talked me into buying it because it was only $100 and could record USB. I find later to be a very crappy amp. The tones stink for what I like to play - which is progressive metal. However, Ola Englund got it to sound pretty decent on a demo video, but even he thinks it's the crappiest amp he has ever tried.

Mate, I actually never regretted anything I bought, for one simple reason If I didn't like it or realized it doesn't fit my needs, I just sold it. Easy as that and as Robbie Williams would say....

Hmmmmm, I regret getting a Fender Thinline back in the day, which I sold a few years back.
I regret buying a Dunlop Crybaby because it's not true bypass and sucks tone, there were better dunlop wahs out there.
And normal strings, I regret buying so many packs until I discovered elixirs

Well I guess I didn't need my Epiphone V because I just can't get on with it.. and once when my main amp was broken I had a gig to do and was looking for a replacement. Kinda got talked into buying a really expensive (at the time) Line 6 head which I used for a lot of recordings.. but it doesn't really have a use now.

I guess the Line 6 head at least performed a use so I don't regret it really but the V was an impulse buy and unnecessary.

Lol most of my gear has been traded for lack of a better purchase.

I think the PRS CE24 was that buy. I was like OH MY! A PRS CUSTOM 24 USED!!! Ran down played it enjoyed it got home fiddled with it picked up my Ibanez S. Then the only action it really got was pictures to people or a friend of mine playing it. I turn around and sold it for some home stereo speakers.. Yeah it was so bad that I didn't even buy gear with it!

Most things I had just didn't feel like me. Great gear but just wasn't me. I answered on another forum about how much do you think you've spent and what do you currently have. Over the years with the money I've blown. I could have bought Todd's car with cash! But it was fun getting to where I am. I found my love, I am down to 2 guitars. I may actually sell my Ibanez down the road but for a 7. I know what I want just will take me forever to get that money unless I get lucky and find it used.

Hmmmm I haven't bought anything for a long time! A lot of stuff comes for free now and if I don't like it I am just not using it!
I am more like a pack rat and if I got something that I don't like I will just keep it because you just never know when you will need it! So I have a crazy amount of pedals and amps I use to have 35 guitars but had to get rid of 90% of them because it was too hard to maintain!
So no regrets at all just keeping everything I got! LOL

My zoom G2 was terrible as well as the les paul 100 I was using for it. After that I bought a korg
ax3000g which was soo much better. And now I own a pod x3 that I love.

Its not that I regret buying them because they have helped me a lot. It is just that it isn't gear to hold on to.

I actually don't regret any specific piece of gear. Maybe KORG ax10b that I had for some time but I would now actually need it for rehearsals (we do it all through a mixer console so it would be handy now).

I usually really "measure" 10x something before I get it - to make sure its good quality.
Maybe the fastest gear that came and go for me was a Digitech Bass Compressor pedal - but I managed to sell all my gear.
Somehow - its pretty easy to sell (for a good price) musician's gear ))

I didn't bond with my Gretsch Power Jet, the neck profile was horrible and the TV Jones Power Tron's just too muddy for me.

My Burny RLG I like more now I have the bare knuckle Emeralds in it, but I do think I'm possibly more of a 25.5 scale guitar fan.

My thoughts exactly - and if you can't sell, you can swap I swapped my Ibanez K7 on a Crate blue voodoo head and amp back in 2010 Pretty much a great deal for what money I could get on that guitar

I rarely regret buying gear of any kind to be honest. I just love gear, love buying gear, love testing out gear, etc. I often rotate my gear quite a bit so it's always in flux so there usually isn't a lot of time to regret most purchases since I don't keep them that long. I"m always looking for the next piece so I just give up whatever I"m not using and get something else. So not much room for regret.

But looking back, hmm. I guess you could say I regret buying a cheapo 6 string ROGUE bass. It was a really cheap bass. But it had Six strings, which is what I wanted to try and it was the cheapest way to do it. Sad news is, it was almost unplayable from go since it's just a cheap instrument trying to be a 6 string bass. I am MUCH MUCH MUCH happier with my 5 string Ibanez bass that I got recently. It only has one pickup, no active electronics, it's the starter bass. But it plays like an IBANEZ.

I regretted buying some pedal, like a Diamond Compressor (great pedal, but I only used it once) and the Red Witch Empress Chorus (again, a good sounding piece of gear, but I just never use chorus).
I ended up selling both.

It was a beautiful guitar overall. I don't know if the neck was finished at some point and they sanded it or what. It had this unfinished feeling to it, I polished it and such and it still didn't make it feel smooth. Also I had to take the volume knob off because when I would play it would slowly turn the volume down.

I've played a SE Allender and I enjoyed it in the store.

But I have my love so all is well! A manager at a local music store bought an ultra rare EBMM JPX-6. I forget whats all that is different in terms of the other models but it has a toggle instead of a blade for pickup selection and one for piezo. He let me play it when he bought it, I fell for it. They had other models in the store but not the same kind. They didn't even feel the same. So thats when I went through like 5 guitars I believe. Then he traded it to his store and I rushed up and bought it. Been happy ever since. I've actually stopped buying guitar gear since.

Pretty much every guitar i've gotten off ebay...

Had an ESP LTD KH-202 which came with a weird floyd rose that couldn't keep in tune.

Then I got an Ibanez PGM-301 which had a bridge saddle missing at first. (Took a saddle off a different guitar and just used that. I still use the guitar )

So, it's just not for you I get it I couldn't play on a Gibson for instance - it feels unnatural to me somehow even though it has a killer tone!
