Hello! I was thinking about learning some acoustic fingerstyle songs by ear. Could you recommend me some easy songs to start with? Something of Tommy Emmanuel or Chet Atkins maybe? rolleyes.gif

IMHO nothing by Tommy or Chet is "easy", but some are easier than others. I found this:

Well, as above, nothing those guys ever did is too easy smile.gif Instead, I'd do something else - try to figure out famous pop/ rock songs that you already heard and know how to sing by finding a way to play both harmonies and vocal lines on one guitar. It should prove useful in many ways:

- ear training
- combining harmony and melody
- understanding the anatomy of structures from this perspective
- playing the acoustic

And I'm sure there's more wink.gif

I don't know how advanced you are but a song like airplane by the plain white t's could be a good start or even find some classical guitar pieces to work on.

Tommy Emmanuel & Chet Atkins sounds good but I used to play a lot of acoustic too and aside from Tommy or Chet one of my other favorites in acoustic guitar playing would be Earl Klugh. You might want to check him out. One of his simple & fun to learn songs. biggrin.gif

Tetris theme?

Well, since you're Russian, you probably know it better by its real name. But there are some interesting guitar arrangements out there (i.e. on YouTube).

Maybe this song, it is relatively simple when you get the hang of the first few chords :

Are you looking for fingerpicking songs for acoustic or just songs to play on acoustic?
I think that good start would be to just learn "chord songs" by ear to get some training in and then progress to simple melodies and "fingerstyle songs". Good trick here would be to just try to transcribe vocal melodies on acoustic while playing along the song. Beatles songs are really cool for this and there are lots of Karaoke version on youtube to jam along.

You can also try to tackle this lesson, by our own Gabriel Leopardi: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/picnic-panic/

It features A LOT of strummed acoustic songs, simple chord progressions and also, singing biggrin.gif

Have fun mate! And if you need anything else, just ask smile.gif
