Here's some inspiring and thought provoking words from Bruce Lee on art and being an artist...

"The true artist has no public. He works for the sheer joy of it, with an element of playfulness, of casualness. Art reaches its greatest peak when devoid of self consciousness. Freedom discovers man the moment he loses concern over what impression he is making or about to make."

"Art is really the expression of the self. The more complicated ans restricted the method, the less the opportunity for the expression of one's original sense of freedom."

"Art is a means of acquiring personal liberty. Your way is not my way nor mine yours."

"Simplicity is the last step of art and the beginning of nature."

One of my biggest enemies is self doubt, whenever a solo approaches or a complicated rhythm section something in my mind goes "you're gonna blow it", I think due to me thinking about what impression I'm going to make on others. Bruce's words are something I need delv into I think.
Thanks Ben

Oh yes... breaking the self conscious barrier at a live show usually takes me a couple of songs before I stop worrying what I look like, sound like etc.. smile.gif
