Is it worth it. My Dad is looking at getting me the Komplete edition which includes the foot controller. I think it'll be a lot more useful for recording and REC takes but I've never actually used any iteration of Guitar Rig.

What are your experiences with it?

Funny you should ask, I was just about to upload another original recording where I used GR5 instead of micing up my amp. Check it out to get an idea of what metal can sound like. Personally I'm really impressed with the tones you can get from it, I don't have the foot controller but I can see how it would be useful for live applications. You can really change the presets to your liking with this software, from changing mic or position of mic, changing cab or speakers and add or take away other effects. I like it smile.gif

YES!!!!

I"ve been using it since Version 4 and it's one of the best out there IMHO. I got KOMPLETE 8 and it's just AMAZING. So many great instruments/samples/tools/plugins in one package. Hard to beat. Plus, if you bought all of it individually it would cost thousands more so it's fab deal.

I've got an entire thread full of Guitar Rig patches. The Version 4 patches work in version 5 which is handy smile.gif I didn't like the stock patches so I made my own!

Yes, it is great! Even better with a foot switch!
I am thinking about getting a switch for my GR5 copy. Let me know how it works once you get it please smile.gif

I've got GR mobile for some years now (quite minimalistic I/O interface and GR 4)

Just so much better for me to get the whole thing on line output for headphones and such.
The headphone output of my amp and the multi always felt really dumbed down to me in comparison.

recording stuff is really easy, you can just start a backing track within the program and in synch record yourself playing.
(and decide to either record the whole output or for example just the dry input of your guitar for reamping)

also in love with the sounds getting out of it (though I have some really nice sets for high gain and clean I still struggle to get some really decent thing in between, but that could just be me)

the presets it comes with didn't really work for me, like 90% sounded like crap (most of those with high distortion sound very thin, fizzy and the noise gets horrible),
in any case you should spend some time adjusting your own (starting on either picking some from the built in presets you like or some user uploaded either on the NI site or here or some amp sim forum) sound patch to get the best out of this program cause even if ppl. use the same preset there's still a big component of the sound due to the guitar and actual playing smile.gif
Effects section is also quite nice, comes with a looper and you can do really much cause you can just throw in as many effect things as you want to.
(really in love with the stereo delays)

definitely worth it wink.gif

@Christian
which switch do you consider buying?
